I dont personally block threads, nor does the server. Right now we dont block too many servers. That said once we add the feature for users to opt-out of instance level server blocks then we might block threads by default.

Yes this is one of the first and highest priority features.

@bibliolater First step will be to port over the translation feature and the in-line toot editing feature mainline mastodon got.

After that we plan to do a feature with regards to block lists where the server can block other servers but users can opt to ignore the recommended block list if they want.

Good news for #QOTO. We are now being funded by some donated resources, both money and developers. We will essentially have a full-time server administrator and a part-time developer to advance the QOTO software. They will be starting January 1st.

This should allow us to start adopting many of the features we have wanted to bring in that people have been requesting.

@jackyan Yea we were more north. My white side came over on the first boats to colonize here, it was the tribe around that area at that time as well as more northward into Canada.

I am fine with that as long as they arent parties (governed bodies).. if they are just hashtags or the will of the people at least its organic and no one person can control it (or even a majority)

@jackyan My Native American heritage is Penobscot tribe. and sadly a lot of the knowledge wasnt passed down to me, but I took time to visit some survivng natives from the tribe once I learned about my heritage.

@jackyan As far as I know it they didnt have fore and surnames. It depended largely on the tribe how they named, but people knew eachother, the world was much smaller. Names would be things like "Standing Bear" or something roughly translated.

Just a reminder, it is perfectly ok to ridicule or insult an idea, just dont do it to people. But also the flip side to that, be ok with your ideas being mocked, but expect personal respect.

I run into this often, people think im rude cause I will call an idea idiotic and they say "ad hominem is weak, you just called me an idiot" to which I will often reply "No I didnt, I only pointed out you said an idiotic thing, I am sure you have some things to say that arent idiotic too"

@jackyan Sadly there are few natives left who are actually full-blooded, so very few native last names survive.

I am obviously mixed and my last name is not native. But I have great respect for my native side even if it is fractional.

While I see why you would say that it just doesnt work. If they have parties then media will focus on which candidate they cover given preference to parties. This in turn requires a candidate to join a party to be electable. This furthermore requires a candidate to be subservient to the party because should they be kicked out of the party they wont get media coverage and again be unelectable.

We have already shown the media do this to silence the many third party candidates we have each year, so we already know its a problem.

Well I certainly would support banning of all political parties in the USA. Only independents should be allowed to run.
