@LaNaehForaday

> And then you also realize that every single immigrant at our border IS SEEKING ASYLUM right?

Irrelevant how many want asylum. In order to be an asylum seeker you must apply. You **are** allowed to enter illegal to apply, so you arent illegal the moment you enter. But once you've been here for some time without applying for asylum you are no longer an asylum seeker, you are just an illegal immigrant at that point.

So again, I have no problem with them entering and seeking assylum with the government after entering, that is perefectly legal. But those who never register absolutely should either be deported, or at least forced through the process to determine if they.

And no, not everyone entering the border is an asylum seeker. Many are im sure, you saying just because someone entered illegal they are 100% asylum seekers is absolute lunacy.

> And frankly prosecuting FUCKING HUMANS FOR WANTING A BETTER LIFE TURNS MY STOMACH

Turns mine too, Im all for giving them an appropriate legal path to help.

@ambihelical Yea I assume the best too. I gave him the benefit of the doubt right up until that last message.

@TomShafShafer

Actually I am someone who hates Trump, with a passion... One of the reasons is I had an impression of Trump as someone who hated brown people and middle easterners. I still think this is true but...

> He withdrew the US from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), also known as the Iran Nuclear Deal. This gave Iran the green light to restart uranium enrichment and further failed to contain Iran's Middle East ambitions.

This actually has convinced me to like Trump more rather than hate him more. Hearing he is ok with brown middle eastern people having the same rights as the USA WRT access to nuclear material is a very positive step in the right direction for equality for the middle east.

> - Trump threatened to pull the US out of NATO and constantly complained about the financial contributions other members made.

This part is just par for the course with him being an idiot. It didnt help, but honestly thats barely on my radar with half the shit to consider.

@TomShafShafer

This is new information to me. Can you please give me some examples of policy decisions trump made that weakened Ukraine, this is very interesting to me.

Thank you in advance.

@ambihelical

Neither. I was just pointing out explicitly stating you are ending the conversation is unneeded. If you have nothing left to add, then dont respond.

He was set off because he was trying to be passive aggressive and say "you arent welcome to contact me" but he wasnt using his adult voice and assumed people should read his mind.

@bonifartius I agree, but you missed the point... she replied to me with that, said I was #2 then immediately got blocked. Never mind the fact that #2 doesnt remotely resemble my reply.

@sj_zero

> There's a big difference between trying to be true and trying to be right. You can "be" the latter while failing to be the former, and that's not good -- reality doesn't care that you won a debate if you're just objectively wrong about something.

absolutely, but if you feel the conversation isnt about truth but just being right, then you dont rage quit and block, you just walk away from the conversation. So my point largely stands.

> It's tough to be humble though, because you have to admit you were wrong when what you thought was right doesn't turn out to be true. Folks who work in hard science and engineering end up taking their licks at some point even if they're really good.

While its certainly a good quality of character to admit your wrong, people who are in it for the right reasons dont care if the other side admits being wrong or not. You worry about what you learned, and if its nothing, and that is legitimate, then you just move on.

I dont know who needs to hear this.. but you can actually disagree with someone, have a debate, remain peaceful, and if you still disagree in the end you dont have to actually rage quit and block them. You can.... wait for it.... just disengage and walk away.

Not everyone has to agree with you about everything.

@Lana

Huh what are you on about... For starters I never said they were equivalent. I said they both had a property that at any level I will not accept, that does not imply the property is equivelant or that both parties have it in equal measure. Only that they have the property and thus are not worthy.

@Lana

I agree entirely with this. Though I'd extend it to anyone who supports any racist, which right now is mostly Trump and Biden.

@LouisIngenthron

I generally accept that Dvorak is objectively superior to QWERTy. The issues i have been told thathad encouraged me not to move is.

1) when working on a third-party computer you often cant change the keyboard (like at a library or a kiosk). Therefore you will get WORSE in these cases as you will have Dvorak muscle memory and continually hit keys as if it were the wrong layout

2) Most laptops wont come with Dvorak layout, so short of custom keyboards (which you likely wont get when traveling or working contract) so you wont get the physical keys labeled correctly most of the time.

3)there will be a prolonged period where you confuse the two layouts, so there will be a long period of time i will get worse before I get better.

@genxjamerican

American Journalism should have never been a for-profit venture to begin with.

A for-profit company by its very nature must pursue profit above other priorities, namely the truth. A for-profit journalist therefore has an obligation to lean into hype and fear mongering to get viewers and audience rather than telling the truth, boring or as offensive as it may be to the majority.

There has always been non-profit news, and non-profit news has been the only place you could find any shred of journalist integrity for many years now.

@darnell

the nice thing about my ADHD is that if my apartment is haunted I will literally never notice it

“silly me, always leaving these cupboards and drawers open and the sink running at full blast,” I say, as a frustrated ghost screams into a pillow in the corner

@LouisIngenthron I have always really wanted to move to DVorak, and Irecognize the advantages. Though people have convinced me not to for several convincing reasons.

@bluGill I dont claim to be amazing with spelling, I'm probably average at best (though i do have an excellent vocab). I might even say im below average on spelling.

But how i type is less to do with spelling and more to do with not bothering to correct typos or misspellings.

@chris Oh no, they report left wing extremism all the time... They just call them "heros" or "protesters" :)

@amerika

"not fond of diversity" falls under racist, so im glad we agree he was racist. I mean, starting your career witht he stated goal for much of the start of your career being to keep segregation alive because you dont want your white child growing up in a "racial jungle" (his words) absolutely qualifies as racist, and honestly that word for him is an understatement.

While he now has the good sense to hide his racism, and he exploits minorities instead of oppressing them publicly, anyone who pays attention to his slips ups can see he is still the same old racist joe today.
