A decision we need to make as. a server. Do we continue with our QOTO fork (perhaps rebranding now), or start over with development on a different softare base that is easier o work with (like sharkey)?

Whatever we do ill have to find a way to preserve our post history and ideally followers as well.

A re-introduction:

- I live in a small town in the middle of the Alberta prairie with my wife and kids.

- I work from home as the IT sysadmin for a private school board that serves 6000+ students throughout the province.

- I spend my spare time with strange liquids: photo chemicals, beer, and kombucha

- English is my first language, but I'm decent in Dutch thanks to my dad.

If you say "AI doesn't have a place in writing" I hope you're not using spell check.

@nibble4bits

I can try to find a way to auto-fix this maybe. Perhaps internally resend follow requests.

@volkris

@lqqjo not a crash, we migrated to new servers and new dns, and are about to start working on new r leases again now that it's under a properly registered nonprofit

Some dude stole my work and then tried to pass it off as his own to advertise his business. When I called him out on it he called me greedy for asking to be credited for my own work. I'm currently deciding whether 2024 is going to be the resurgence of completely unhinged MalwareTech. Options are:
a) let it go
b) spend $100 registering an LLC with the same name as his business then use my website's much higher SEO rank to pollute all the search engine results for his business with my own and also give all his products away for free

@malwaretech

Out of curiosity was your work full rights reserved or did he violate a license where it was free to use with attribution

I think if a problem can be solved by burdening the individual, rather than burdening eveyone collectively, that is a good thing not a bad thing. This way an individual can choose their level of desired safety and the cost/effort associated. One size fits all solutions are rarely good choices.

That said, I think this depends largely on what we mean here. Certainly some solutions make sense on society and some on individuals and there is no blanket statement that works there. So th real question is, what solution are you purposing at a societal level?

I think some reasonable things, of course, are many of the laws we already have in place. Where there may be lacking is actual enforcement and investigation of such matters, and I'd agree that should be done well to help protect citizens against fraud that is blatant and provable (the person lied, knew they were lying and intentionally lied)

There is a part of me that wants to go full darkside and start a flat earther youtube channel that uploads real looking but actually photoshopped proof the earth is flat.

Then just rake in millions and watch the world burn.

I just cant bring myself to fan that fire though.

Me: Sure, it's alright, I guess.

Website: Psych! I don't give a shit unless you give me your personal information first!

It is never irrational to be offended, and im offended you would think so.

@peterdrake That is a very interesting statistic and honestly, totally expected since I do feel women are biologically wired to worry about their children more than men. Not to say men dont care but men seem more likely to stress less.

Witchcraft : Watchdog Integrated Tracking Computer for Horseless Carriages Running AI Flavored Toolkits

This still remains, hands down, the best name for a product I ever came up with. It was the name for an AI powered baby detection system that alerts mothers when they leave their baby in the car.
