If this works well. I might just switch to this instance of Mastodon. So far it has been great! This post is a test of the huge character limit, and this tests how it Federates.

The Twitter mode also is very interesting. I probably will not use it nearly as much as this (I think I prefer the web interface better).

I am a computer programmer that works on the apps heb12.github.io I really enjoy working on it, as I get to use my abilities in programming to honor the Lord.

I have been working with PHP, and I am making a simple chatroom program for fun. Check it out on GitHub: github.com/masterofthetiger/ch

Well, I got over 500 characters. Let's see how this works.

the amazing thing about Jason X is that it kinda just chucks everything out the window and goes "what if Jason was a mummy in space" and I have to respect that kind of innovation in a series

@freemo I'm not on QOTO (though I have considered joining), so here's an opinion from a mere follower.

I followed because, from the posts I saw, you seem to be a rational, levelheaded person, something sorely lacking in the fediverse and the world at large. Somebody put you in my federated TL, and I found that I'd rather read your posts than memes, bots, and the rest of the lot.

Rainbow over my city. Note: right after taking this picture I saw a man vomiting in the street.

@freemo As I am a member of the Mod team along side you, I'm afraid that my opinion is horribly biased, but I think we do the best we can and do a pretty good job at letting people maintain free speech and being excellent to one another.

But, there is a bit of tooting my own horn in that statement, so take it with a grain of salt! :p

Without joking, though, I wouldn't have accepted your invitation to the moderation team if I thought you were anything other than rational and fairminded. I picked Qoto out of the gate, and I think I picked well. I enjoy it here, and I enjoy the discussions I have here.

Interesting fact of the day: if you put butter on an ant he, along with every other ant in the colony, will think he is dead. He will either walk over to the ant graveyard himself or be carried there by another ant. The ant will usually stay there until the butter wears off.

The reason for this is that butter is 35% Oleic Acid. This is the Fatty Acid responsible for triggering this response.

I have to say I'm really surprised with how quickly my follower count and the user count exploded in just a little over 2 months.

When I first came to the fediverse the very first thing I did was start my own server (qoto) because I wanted a place where I could talk freely (free speech), without the facism of censorship. Honest sincere debate, something I felt was lacking from other nodes in the fediverse.

I never intended to draw a crowd, or even other members on my server. It was for me and for one friend, that's it. But somehow in the 2 - 3 months I've gained thousands of followers many of whom have come to join our family on QOTO.

What I dont get is how. What did I do that was so special that got me 3k followers in a few months. I have to think its more than just being a nice guy.

My guess: people, like me, crave a place they can be honest, where a difference of opinion is met with mature respectful debate, not censorship and hatred. I hope we have created that here!

Tell me what you think! I'd love to hear everyones opinion on what brought them over to QOTO or even why you decided to follow me.

@freemo And we appreciate your openness, support, and good vibes 💕

I just hit 3K followers! So amazed by all the interest in my projects, and my posts, thank you all! I look forward to getting to know all of you, your such a diverse group with so many interests from art, to science, to religion, every moment is a joy! I appreciate how you have all enriched my life.

I love you all!

I took some advice. Follow this account if you're not. One of the mods, I think was @hashtaggrammar who suggested I move my account up here? If so, thanks, samantha.

Hey guys look at what China & Russia is doing, so authoritarian, nothing like our beautiful democracy over here...

Elderly Mathematicians (usually retired) really amaze me. I am not used to talking to someone in their 90's about such advanced topics. It is a bit surreal and it makes me realize really quickly that I have this innate prejudice against older people where I just expect them to not be too sharp when it comes to pure logic or advanced education. Don't get me wrong they can be very wise, valuable and insightful, and I knew that. Its just so surreal and weird and eye opening to see them go toe tow with me (and even better than me) on advanced math!

If you cant tell I had a really cool conversation just now on math (too advanced to really get into).

@Atom Ok so rough estimate would be from the percentage of factory farms raising beef. So seems about 75% of beef is "factory farmed" in america. So probably something like ~25% of beef in the USA is free range. So not an insignificant percentage at all. Though I'll admit much smaller than it should be if we are trying to optimize food production.

Though i guess if we really want to pick this apart we need to break it down by calorie not by weight. 1KG of beef provides far more calories than 1KG of most plants. So we would have to dig a bit deeper to really see what the numbers are saying here.
