Interesting, of the 27 people who voted 100% have been to a movie or theater with intermission!

i mean, they arent wrong.

only if they actually put the intermission the screen for an extended period of time so you could get up and make a snack and take a piss

Have you ever been to a play or movie with an intermission?

Here have some culture you uncultured swine:

In a world of polarized extremes, be the moderate and reasonable middle ground... Too much of anything is a bad thing.

Of all the classic films I've watched over the years from Citizen Kane to Planet of the Apes I try to make it a point to watch iconic and historic movies even though I dont particularly enjoy the style of old movies. It just seems like something a well educated person should put the time into.

Despite that I must admit I never watched the Godfather series. For some reason it is just not the sort of movie that draws me in... that said I feel as a matter of education I must watch the series at least once.

So today im going to watch godfather the movie... lets hope it is at least bearable.

I dont mind people being wrong, in fact i love the fact that people are trying to find answers at all. What i mind is the absolute certainty people tend to have that they are correct, to the point of being unable to even begin to consider other answers at all.

What really gets me is just how pervasive this cock sure confirmation bias is in even the most well meaning of people. In recent years it is so common it is crippling and causes turmoil in even casual relationships for anything remotely polarizing.

This is what it looks like when you take cyanoacrylate and sone accelerator, through it in a pill capsule, shake them together and watch the reaction quickly harden. It gets so hard it starts smoking.

Every Charlton Heston movie ever made is basically him running around trying to figure out what the hell is going on and then at the end him screaming at the reveal.

Carpe Diem... do they want you to make the most our of your day, or do they want you to wear a diadem made out of fish... we may never know.

I found my answer, see this post for details:

After some research I found a few names used for this in the industry. It is called an "Eye bar", a "Shatner light" or, "Kirk light". Apparently It originated in classic black and white films. I cant verify this but it seems it was either first done or made popular by the 1931 Dracula film (image attached) which at least 3 black and white remakes all used the same Eye bar lighting. It then started to be used in other Genres and films including Star Trek the original series where it was used extensively for Kirk (images attached), thus the name Kirk/Shatner light. It was also used in the Harry Potter movies at least once.

As mentioned in the OP it was so common it was used as a running joke in the Addam's Family films anytime Morticia was in a shot (see the original post for an example).
