"During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) allowed physicians to prescribe controlled substances via telehealth appointments; at the same time, parents began noticing symptoms of inattentiveness in their kids who were stuck at home attending school over Zoom. As a result, ADHD diagnoses soared among children."

"State and local governments sued the three largest pharmaceutical distributors and Johnson & Johnson over claims that the companies had contributed to opioid abuse and deaths. In February 2022, the companies settled for $26 billion and cracked down on potentially suspicious orders of controlled substances from independent pharmacies. As a result, many pharmacies were limited in the drugs they were able to order; some were banned altogether."

"the DEA declined to raise the limits in 2023 that would allow manufacturers to make more Adderall, even in the face of a declared shortage. Meanwhile, a lawsuit filed by state and local governments caused pharmaceutical distributors to cut off the supply of drugs like Adderall to pharmacies across the country."

apparently i passed a phishing awareness test last week by correctly ignoring a fake linkedin email

nobody tell my boss that i ignored it entirely on the assumption that it was a real linkedin email

@freemo he kinda got that kazynsky face going with that beard and hair tho.

Them: Women need to stop being held to impossible body standards. Its not an issue with men.

Reality:

I dated a woman once who told me on our second date he was a hooker, ashamed and scared how I would respond... my response was something like:

Me: Are you happy doing it?

Her: Yes I enjoy it most of the time.

Me: So you do something that makes you and your clients happen, get paid a ton of money, and cause no harm to anyone in the process. You have my respect, not pity.

I sit here watching the Sig-afta strike over (in part) AI replacing the need for actors and extras..... wait till these people hear about cartoons!

is one of the foundations of . When observing a new fact, we always compare it with a control, a witness or a standard and every conclusion is relative to our references. Sometimes I think we need to remember that and understand that certain things are .

@freemo many years ago, when I was doing repairs, we sometimes had to add wire jumpers onto boards (back in the day when a lot of glue logic was used and that was a way to fix bugs). For this we had to use teflon coated ~28AWG stranded wire and used this tool for stripping weller-tools.com/eu/gb/precisi. You would put the wire in the jaws and spin the tweezers around until it pierced the insulation then pulled. I would not use this tool for anything else though ...

If you do any sort of work where you have to strip tiny wires of 20 AWG or less I highly recommend you get yourself a precision wire stripper.

So I bought like 30 different shaving soaps and a lather brush and the whole deal... Anyway the one I picked today had like tobacoo in it, not the smoke but the fresh leaf. As much as I hate the smell of tobacoo smoke this smells soooo good.

Feelin fresh.

A 2-party system is a mathematical consequence of plurality voting. While ranked voting as suggested by @ambihelical is impractical (for both voting equipment and voting comprehension), simply voting for more than 1 is already supported by all voting equipment, readily understood by voters, and already in use for many local races.

It also increases the likelihood that no candidate will gain 270 electoral votes in the case of the Presidential.

For that case, I recommend we follow the constitution and vote for electors, NOT presidential candidates. As it is, you have to work pretty hard to even know the name of the electors you are voting for. They are not put on the ballot. It is well worth meeting them.

@freemo I wanted to say that i'm happy i'm not a us citizen, then i read the thread... and now i want to say it EVEN LOUDER.

Good luck with that mess. Would help, but we have our own mess.

I'm bringing this up as I saw someone complaining about it.

Apparently, drugs were over-prescribed and now the U.S. is over-correcting for it by making it harder to get pain meds at all.

As is evident, that isn't working well either (as it creates the opposite problem).
