In all honesty part of me wonders if abuses should be fought in court instead of with officers. Especially since legal precedents are usually used to determine standard operating procedures moving forward.

If you fight a cop, you will likely not win. You might still win in court but why get beat up and win in court if you can win in court without getting beaten, y'know?

No but thats a differnt issue so lets not conflate them...

First what I was saying:

Your right to the 5th is **not** invoked simply by remaining silent, and your silence alone can and will be used against you... You can only remain silent **if** you explicitly state you are exercising this right before engaging in said silence.

Second what you asked, no you dont always have the right to remain silent, even if you invoke it. You can **only** invoke this right under certain circumstances, specifically should you speaking serve to incriminate you. For example if you are called to be a witness against someone else, but you yourself did no wrong doing, you can not remain silent or exercise this right and if you try you will be in contempt of court and locked up till you speak.

So I found this cool new tool that looks like a very new take on the idea of a blocklist, not really sure I can even call it a block list.

As I understand it it does a few things:

1) Only system administrators can get accounts, but users can view the data

2) a chain of trust which in and of itself only proves you arent a spammer. Anyone in the chain of trust can add other instances. Once an instance is in the chain then their admin can get an account and contribute

3) an instance in the chain of trust can add up to 20 other instances to the chain of trust. Should the instance loose their trust from their parent then the entire chain breaks including instances it trusted.

4) You can add endorsements.. this is stronger than adding someone to the chain of trust. It is a way of you saying "this is a good server" and explaining what features make them a server you endorce

5) You can censure instances too, these are instances you block and give reasons why.

6) there are also lesser categories like hesitations where you can list concerns but not suggesting blocking.

7) All this can be automatically populated from your instances black/white list if you wish. Or you can add entries manually

8) you get a little badge you can put on your servers about me that shows the number of endorsements you have live.

**An apology to the whole fediverse**

I wanted to apologize to everyone as I've been rude and harsh with many of you as of late. Regardless of if it was in response to disrespect or not, that is not in line with my own moral views, it was wrong of me.

My philosophy moving forward is no matter how bad a person I may think you are, no matter how cruel or deserving it may seem you are of an attack, my options will be to respond with compassion or not at all. That said I will continue to call out bad actors in a blunt but constructive way. I will try my best that should I provide a personal criticism I do so with a tone of respect and kindness.

While I can say the recent change have been due to some pretty monumental stress and life changes I've been dealing with (a physical assault and death threat from the Israeli Mob), that does not make me any less accountable. But I do want people to know why.

My deepest apologies to anyone effected, both on #QOTO and off. I will try better to be more compassionate in my words and actions moving forward and should anyone feel I fail to do that I welcome you to point me back to this post.
