Judge for yourself.. here are the comments on the various versions of the

This is the version ratified by Delaware and used by the Supreme Court in District of Columbia v. Heller:

> A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

Some state-ratified versions, such as Maryland's, omitted the first or final commas:

> A well regulated Militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

The ratification acts from New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and South Carolina contained only one comma, but with differences in capitalization. Pennsylvania's act states:[34]

> A well regulated Militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed.

The ratification act from New Jersey has no commas:

> A well regulated Militia being necessary to the security of a free State the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed.

@jud

Why are you rambling nonsense about things I said **nothing** about.

> Do you remember what the Charlottesville white supremacist rally was about?

I said **nothing** about white supremicists, so no relevance to anything I said.

> Removal of a Confederate statue.

I said nothing about the statues.

> Those statues are about Jim Crow. The statues were erected as monuments to suppression of the former slaves and their heirs.

Cool, and again has nothing to do whith anything I said.. I didnt say anything about statues, jim crow or anything else.

The vast majority of people I've ever known who had a confederate flag abhored slavery, and dont see it in any way as a symbol intended to support the confederacy or slavery... Virtually all of them fly it, and see it, as a symbol of modern southern pride, nothing more nothing less.

As for a side note, the native americans overwhelmingly fought on the side of the south, not the north. Largely because the north was seen as far far more brutal to the natives.

Friend: I think my dads outside smoking salmon

Me: NNNNiiiicccceeee man, never heard of that strain... I think ill go find him.

Friends wife: I told you not to invite him!

I've run into this quote, that seems apropos:
"You can’t convince a believer of anything; for their belief is not based on evidence, it’s based on a deep need to believe" -- Carl Sagan

Ive seen far more racism out of people who think the confederate flag is racist than I have actually seen from people who fly it.

Very wealthy people who immigrated to this country should maybe stay out of blaming poor migrants for the problems of their adopted country. Just saying.

Fediverse on Wayland anyone? :-)

Nice! CloudLog has mastodon integration (it generated this message)!

Just worked AB8KY in United States Of America (Gridsquare: EM87up / distance: 412.8 mi) on 80m using LSB

@freemo @devolute I just tried this on macOS, and neither Safari, Firefox, or Edge will do anything with the `geo:` schema. However, check out what I’m prompted for on iOS.

The Go Map!! app has registered the `geo:` scheme with the OS, so when you click on any `geo:` link, you can open it in that app. So, this is essentially what has to happen: an app that knows how to handle `geo:` needs to register itself with the OS as handling that scheme.

@thatguyoverthere @freemo Oh, and as far as, "sharp as a tack," my wife reminds me I am VERY "tacky." That's a good thing, right?

So I am starting a HAM community.. Think apache for Ham radio. The idea is to address the state of open source software and standards in HAM radio.

Anyone, particularly open-source devs have any interest in talking to me about this, even if its just to make sure their ideas are considered as I launch... but people who want to help more directly are welcome too.

We all know when I twated this what the real answer is.....

What is the past tense of toot?

Recently, on and off, I've been in deep thought about my moral code... My core tenant (reduce suffering, maximize happiness in the aggregate) hasnt changed.. but some of my choices I am in doubt about...

1) Mocking, even lightly as I usually do, other people who are rude, hateful, or even violent towards me,

While I dont feel bad for having done this, per se, I dont think it necessarily achieves my core tenant either. Or maybe it does... I need to consider this.

2) Mocking people, usually limited to public figures, with less compassion than #1 above, by virtue of the fact that they are so far removed I dont expect them to hear it so I dont see harm in mocking them.

My concern here is that someone who adopts a similar quality as the one im mocking might get hurt just by association... for example I was specifically thinking of the case where I laughed at styles at an italian runway that were quite ridiculous and over the top as they tend to be. I thought the person who was posting it was posting it specifically to make fun of it. Turns out they were italian and into style and in fact they were posting it because they liked it. I unintentionally hurt their feelings and we dont talk anymore because of that.

Reflecting back on that the way I see it, mocking it has only the small potentential for good associated with a laugh (which is non-zero to be fair, thats good for the health)... but a much larger potential to hurt someone, more potential to hurt, as I saw, than potential for good.

So maybe I should be carefuil of how hurtful it may be to mock things that arent truely evil and worth mocking as a minimum.

Interesting fact of the day: The location that invented the margarita pizza, still operating today (in Napoli) only cooks their pizza for 60 seconds... The restaurant is called Brandi.

I was never a huge twitter user... 4K followers and decent interaction.. I just found it an uninteresting place...

Anyway I used to check in cause I'd have a bunch of notifications a day. But now I dont get notifications for week (despite cross posting there still).

I got the first notification in a while and bothered to log in again and check it.... LOL "Today is your X anniversary"... hell it is, I never signed up to X... not a notification in sight...

X is dead.
