Dr. Freemo is the greatest teacher in all fediverse of #QOTO ! I would be very helpful if you could say so. However, English communication is also difficult SO SORRY🙇
For anyone not on the QOTO instance or doesnt use the web interface here is a screenshot of what the instance ticker looks like in the feed. Its optional and can be turned off by why would you want to!
The colors are based on what instance a user uses, red and yellow for QOTO, white and blue for mastodon, gold and grey for Pleorma. The icon is the favicon used for the server and updated every few days.

The QOTO instance ticker accidentally introduced into the other themes have been removed/fixed. Should be back to normal. Refresh your browser if needed, if your on the default theme or a ticker theme you will see the new QOTO colors otherwise things should look like the classic theme again if your not on a theme with tickers.

Minor Update just went down to the instance ticker. The qoto.org instance ticker now has its own custom icon and colors. Since we are a significant fork from vanilla mastodon it made sense that we have our own unique colors to represent QOTO instance and derivatives.
Please let us know if anyone sees any unintended side effects or if anyone doesnt like the new change. We can always fix it.
I'm starting to think Nazi might be getting a bit overused these days... apparently driving a car is exactly equivalent to mass genocide, who knew!
Seems we have been holding steady on #QOTO with about 500 new users per week, 80 per day. Very exciting!

The pengrams I use when practicing a new script...
It is designed so each word has the letter it represents twice, once at the beginning and once in the middle (never at the end). I picked these words for a few reasons.
1) I always practice the capital form of the letter in the word
2) I always practice the lowercase form of the letter
3) I get to practice both the lead-in connector and the outgoing connector for the lowercase form (by virtue of now being at the end of the word)
FYI last word should be Zanzibar
I was actually surprised I didnt get some pushback from our users on the new instance tickers in our UI. Personally I love it but I expected a few people to complain. But literally everyone who registered an opinion said they loved it.
Though Rob is in the dark theme where it doesnt exist, so i guess he isnt a fan.

QOTO.org new January 2020 Features Added - 4 - Domain Subscriptions.
As per the original announcement post by @freemo :
"Domain Subscriptions - Bring another instance's local timeline as a feed in QOTO, no need to have an account on another server again, just import their timeline here!"
So this is another new and unique feature -- we can add another instance's Local timeline and view it locally here at our own instance.
Why would someone be interested in that?
- for diversity : the fediverse has a myriad of instances, and that means there's many different places. Some are big, some are small, many we can't even read the local languages, but it's fun to travel and see.
- when things get quiet at Qoto's local timeline... we open one of these and have freshly posted content from whichever instance we selected.
Isn't this snooping, or uncool, or frowned upon? No, not at all.
- we can only see posts that were made Public at their original instance.
- these posts will be Federated and will join the millions of others in the Home and Federated feeds.
The advantage is that we see them in the same way we see the posts made locally here at Qoto:
- a local timeline tends to be a place where there's more socializing, as we see each other's posts daily.
- we see all the local's posts, not only a few we followed.
- if some local event or news item is trending, we can see and participate in that with less distractions.
So, makes sense why you could want to try this? How to do it then?
- Select the "Gear" icon, to access the Mastodon full page "Preferences" menus.
- On that page, navigate down to "Follows and Subscriptions" -- then select ¨Domain Subscribes¨. (see screenshot #1)
- on that section, click the ¨Add New Subscription¨, and enter the instance´s complete domain name. E.g. ¨mastodon.social¨ or ¨expired.mentality.rip¨
- Do NOT enter the HTTP or HTTPS protocol as in the normal browser URL. Here it isnt required.
Finished that, you will see the saved new domain added to your list.
Accessing the Subscribed Domains :
- From the main Mastodon Web client screen, look for the ¨Lists¨ item in the right side menu (see screenshot #3)
- From the list of subscribed domains, select the one you want to look at.
- it will now display the most recent posts in a column, just like the local timeline. (see screenshot #4)
