Just had a nice 10m QSO... I do love the 10m, 6m, 1.25m and similar bands that are a bit more "obscure"

Lately I've been getting noticed around the world and online in random places, usually STEM oriented.

Just now two people from a random internet chat room ( # ) knew who I was, had a similar experience in a Science forum. Even in person, I visited a maker space I had never been to and more than one person came up to me and said "Aren't you freemo, from mastodon".

It feels weird being recognized when I go random places. I feel like I lost a sort of natural anonymity. Havent felt this way in decades (when i was younger I was on the news a lot and was recognized often as well).

I guess the reason its so surprising is I didnt really realize how much reach I had until just now. I mostly joined the fediverse just so I could shit post in peace, lol.

I had to have a talk about Ivermectin with a family member. I straight up asked her if she has worms and if not, why she wanted to take horse dewormer.

I refuse to support imperial units, I just do metric and medieval ones.

"How many shaftments do you want?"

"Do you need an even barleycorns of x?"

"So you're starting a farm? How many virgates is that?"

You know you are getting old when you have lived through an transmitted during 2 solar cycles.

Kinda excited to see the solar cycle peak again over the next few years. Already back on the rise!

@Science

I get a certain evil pleasure out of knowing all those raging conspiracy theorist kiddies who always comment on my threads about how COVID is just the flu and other nonsense and then rage quit calling me a sheep are now out there taking livestock medication and dying (or getting very sick).

But yyyyeeeeaaaaa the vaccine is the real risk ::rolls eyes::

@funny

:blobcatlul: so you're not choosing liberty then?

> Science is not about building a body of known “facts”. It is a method for asking awkward questions and subjecting them to a reality-check, thus avoiding the human tendency to believe whatever makes us feel good.
