@leo Thinking about rainwater a lot recently...

For my own place or just generally for gardening... so some good points were here that centralised consideration I had...

though for the individual I think it's more interesting (the business groups / gov will always want control and make profit to run a meter- even if it was free to start with because we can't have that free stuff encouraged and beware they will stop you or will hijack it ! So that's why I wouldn't push for 'businesses' to busy themselves with hunting profit from it but let those people DIY)

Second thought less connected to water directly but in the same light:

If it's not taxable / profitable then the government aren't interested
AND actually might be the opposite of tolerance (intolerance and shut anything popular down) which is why I think it has to be a people's revolution on the lower-key / more independent / individual scale)

3rd thought - it's not amount of water that's a problem (I tested it 1 day and got lots) it's more for me about
- "Where to store it"
- "how to rig it around existing other designs"

A different answer for everyone perhaps, but for me it's a question "what container to store it - plastic buckets worked and not really wanting guttering (drips actually work well already in a line) but perhaps large tubs seem best or something that fills up)... haven't found a solution and metal gutters might not suit me or I have some thoughts about wind swinging them off... so I'm am thinking a well or some how funneling it below ground but without pipes... :)

indeed you mention these consideration I'm literally going to need help with:

- cool place to store water
- water stagnation
- ways to pump water (without electricity for me)
- possible cisterns / positions

In conclusion :)
Water is abundant but plastic containers are not :) and the will of those seeing you get for free without them tests people

(actually I'll probably find some plastic of something lying around or make it... maybe from cob lol... hmmm)

I will de-fragment other post topics into one post or at least similar names so the urls and 1st work is the keyword (above example = "follow" for first word)

People before us made it so 'easy to follow' but we are seeing 'simple' means we end-users are only complicit in complicated which is only slightly looser in design (we didn't do the exploitation or vote for it... but still we go along with what we need or think we want)

So what was complicated or perhaps immoral is basically the designers badly patching things as time went on / goes on...
(badly in this context means profit-based decisions / authority-enforcing orientation and design)

So whatever is complicated is actually simplified now so that almost it appears simple.
Simplicity can be weaponized (just as an everyday job can be like a soldier ant going to work specializing in only a few things but it's still for a company tied to the government we don't trust) but then the design funnels back everything in a tree-like way with topographies / matrix calculations / GDP (etc) so you don't have to do any decision-making personally...

They do 'all that' stuff... 'for you' and people are realising too many thing are not agreeable or for anyone but banks!

And this is where the problem is... life is now more and more out of control and some are realising that this is actually out-of-control-crazy style of a template since prices can JUMP almost anytime they decide (from crisis or agreements or plandemics or greed) and have done.

There is little people can do if staying inside this system which filters people badly and feeds itself never-ending profit. We just can't trust them and even lots of level probably lost control... or never had it...

Simple is the complicated without the power, consent, decision making etc!

Just go to work and ignore the rest is basically the design...

And I know it wasn't easy to begin with but what doesn't help even more is man-made scarcity tactics taking advantage of the situation and digging the hole deeper to finally jump in itself!

What is 'easy to follow' and simple is basically the end-product of lots of decisions before that.

I don't think people in technology believe this and can see the creativity as the main thing almost as a end-user themselves that feels like they are designing it although they are lead by the money (even if they didn't choose and government chose what to fund and what not to).

Easy makes it so simple to make people / end-users / consumers to be complicit.... knowingly and not and even half and half as it's not transparent to know all the details)

To say "I didn't do anything" or "it's not my design" is partially a lie or unwillingness to try learn the system since some know it's wrong and complain but since they are not paid to follow the details are accordingly ignorant / uninterested.
Also some really have no knowledge of how deep it is about what's happening even in their own departments! (and to be honest sometimes you really don't and those that have worked understand how 'horse blinkers' makes you work blind to everything else... because that is what you are paid for - just check your job specification!)

All this design that makes it so easy to be complicit - because it's simplifying what is really and allowing life to be born on top of that rather than making sure we don't fall into such bad loops and lose meaning in everything.

To keep the truth from people, yes you can make it complicated and boring...

But I wanted to also list some other reasons why / maybe different versions:

- "complicated and boring" can also be reflection of the current standard of people (TL;DR types let's say / gratification only). So while a government or I can make it seem complicated and write long, actually the reader /you the public might say "it's too long" and skip all of it as opposed to "it's too long, I'll read some now and some later" (there is a difference in methodology, mentality and will to increment knowledge). Not saying I'm the best.

- Nothing is straight in life (naturally not straight) and then also on top of that man complicates it (man also means mankind by the way but yes those not taking care of kids are free to mess with things, kill, chop, but still hopefully take care of nature and planet one day)

- some things are complicated but are simple iterations of the same structure nested inside itself (gates and gate-keepers, hoops to jump and circus masters etc).
So this point means 'complicated' in one way but 'simple' from a 'copy inside a copy' or 'follower' way of orchestrating things.

- boring also can mean many things, but when you learn to love things or see the wonder / usefulness all that is "boring" suddenly boring disappears and becomes a chain of wonder or usefulness towards hopefully a more ecological and tolerant life with genuine people (so those that are not deliberately designing bad ways and matrix-calculation endings to processed).
Those that are persistently insincere perhaps could be chopped somehow as it does end up as this ultimatum and is "beyond repair" as they say.

- Generally a pyramid or line of followers seems to follow this kind of 'complicated and boring' patterns, where individualism and consent are thrown out / replaced by 'system' in which 'system design' = also *man-made* design (same as money and problems go together but seems 'simple' to use money)
"It's only money" etc...

Another way to say it (although not perfect in my conversion) is to say:

" To make sure everyone can *use it* make it simple and idiot-proof "
i.e. counting 1..2..3.... in whatever copied currency format to accumulate power and politics through "simple" things like money linked to everything and optimised over many years.

Once you accept a standard it's hard to go back...

and perhaps naturally and via man-made design we're finding there is no way back exactly and have to accept loss / degradation as reflection of how we got here ungracefully / leveraging brute-force and without consent.

But also asking me which restore point to go back to and load up I wouldn't know what else I would do... I think actually from now it's more than doable if you can accept this hard truth...

Other examples / representatives of TOUGH decisions that you must make or find a way to convert for the best:

1. Cutting Trees (some are old or beetles get to them from dry weather / unhealthy trees)

2. Killing cats or dogs (overgrowth / infestation / management with love but accepting can't be 5000 cats same as everything living or inanimate)

I think the #cats or #dogs case is interesting as I like cats and dogs and why to kill (cull) them if really too many and everyone has 2 already! I think emotionally THIS IS ALL *more about the how* (like putting to sleep is ok with pill) so not the grandmas in the past who were twisting necks in the past to avoid them growing up and not being fed.

Summary: So like the trees or over-running of animals there is a place for management... with love... detail and long-run (without it being about fascism or intolerance for diversity)

Kind of like pruning or making sure existing part of tree (or planet) keeps quality not quantity.

@ChaplainEric Honestly no idea what type of squash / pumpkin it is !

But I have two types (the one in picture someone had young from pot and the other is Hokkaido from my own seeds). The Hokkaido is a fun story if you want to read on!

I collected seeds from a Hokkaido squash 5+ years after literally cleaning them in my mouth to get fibrous parts off them and and put them in in a jar ... then with this whole COVID thing I thought "right time to use it or lose it!" this year...

I didn't expect the Hokkaido to start growing (these type I think at this link https://www.rareseeds.com/red-kuri-squash-hokkaido) so that's why I put all the seeds in a line almost on top of each other (50-100 white oval seeds) thinking that most won't grew but I think they were very fertile!
And because they get watered with the rest I think eventually they come out...

In a way this pile together saved watering individually and area cover as it's all centralised (even though this way will take longer to grow but it catches up fast and will still be happy if some are a bit late (might be able to sleep with them to keep them warm or put them in Greenhouse) we'll see because it's a nice surprise to the question mark at the beginning if they would grow and right now the Hokkaido have given fist size fruit so not bad! Getting good indicators.

I was even thinking about digging parts of it up earlier to move it, but honestly it takes a lot of space everywhere and needs better soil (I have stony soil anyway) so when someone had extra unwanted soil I said "yeah just dump the soil anywhere here" and they dumped it and I used the centralised mound to then grow out (after flattening the mound a bit - 4m squared)

That unknown type (pictured) also has a friend next door (to the right of picture) and is also getting massive and starting to go orange... almost falling off the gate / grill !!! that's I put stick there vertically in the grill to stop it rolling off!

I'm eating mostly apples all day...

Saving me a lot of money and I still have a lot to mix it up with which I mention below:

But I wait until I've had enough of the apples before I start with these other things for food:

- Bees wax (from bee maintenance / seasons honey)

- Muesli / Cereals (got expensive
- Oats / Flakes of Grain (I use this to dilute the above)
- Potatoes and Pasta
- Cucumbers / Tomatoes
- Plum trees (just not ripening) the oval types but round cherry types around
- Peanut Butter / Jams
