@Gargron what's activity like, though? I'm concerned that a lot of those accounts are panic-parks, rather than people who end up actually staying and engaging. It still feels like a bit of a desert out here sometimes.

America ruining our KTT G20, are you serious? You are putting our country in a difficult situation.

I don't like America, but i need google for everything. Such a irony 😢

@atomicpoet @lashman @narohdethan True, particularly on phones. I still sometimes forget that to the vast majority of people their social media is primarily, often exclusively, an app. I still hate posting from my phone.

Mastodon has gained 106,723 monthly active users since the end of March (when Elon bought 9.2% of Twitter's shares). 93,603 are new accounts. Overall that's a 42% increase in Mastodon's MAU.

Hi- I saw you are frequently fascinated by STEM and humanities topics as well, so I thought I'd say hello and "please read my replies and posts"...

@unperson
because my writing might seem almost anti-STEM but actually it's more-human orientated and human-facing (encouraging human connectivity and consent...).
So I'd like to be seen as pro-human or anti-STEM in that way if STEM is cutting out the human feelings more often while damaging earth and planet with more machine-like tools and ways. This consideration is important... because STEM is often involving commercial interest funded by the "baddies!" or bad leaders who are doing the '' work '' they want to do instead honestly serving people.

Increasingly legal forms of that '' work '' is just more exploiting and stomping on people..

That's basically a summary :)

I describe my existence as an unwanted participant and someone born into it what might have been ok world but now in it's 'efficiency' for what it does (and for what it also doesn't serve for people at the same time) means actually there isn't much left while damaging a lot more / not actually helping us!

For machine-mindsets and money $TEM gets the 'job' done more than anything else for governments! And some entertainment and products for the people to keep them busy / visible.
:thumbsup_hmn_g1:

@hikaritojiyu There are languages that surprisingly *increase* or *decrease* feelings in their articulation and expression.

I think it's Vietnamese and Mandarin for example have A LOT more tone, feeling and information per sentence of what someone says in English.

English which is like military-speak describing things, can be much less caring like an authority who is talk to it's soldiers and ordering things in less human-description ways.

English has ability to do more but when you see other languages and their respect for things (which are not just looking at things as objects but spirits or reverence in their external object) then it's like they are in default-love with the world and wonder so positively about people things as something so much more than 'I go to work; people but again spirit or carriers of something non-man-made)-
so much difference that comparatively the English or German efficiency (style toward ebing 'efficient') can seem actually inhuman / cuts out this respect !

I heard a Turkish guy actually say he feels disrespected when switching to English! lol

Hard to see when born into such construct BUT having a variety of friends that can explain how they talk to their own or to parents or to authority can really be eye-opening like O_O and makes one wishing to have those features / way of life in their language! (or in English have less of those 'features' for authority or just objects in it's realm)

This is also why programming languages, STEM and sciences sometimes cannot see or even consider people and their feelings in their equation. They are just objectively seen as objects or subjects in English!

Oh yeah the queen died.
Maybe now this means her objects (possessions) and "subjects" are now free !

@unfa A UNFOLLOWED SORRY!

HERE IS A GRACEFUL DISCONNECT !

"Hi unfa, I appreciate you considered your reply about using filtered YouTube links but from lack of seeing it: I unfollow you. My choice but only asking you to put non-YouTube as well as you google-youtube links.

That's the basics, details follow for the NON-TL;DR....

You had some reservation or worries even adding alternative (not even asking you not to using youtube.com or direct links...
just add and practice non-tracking / non-adverts types of links)

A link that PROTECTS your followers such as this one to same exact link just auto-filtered:

yewtu.be/watch?v=XlPuvm7bedg

SO I can't agree with your decision not to add it (purely my own freedom-from-tracking thing - nothing to do with you)

About your worry previously about 'starving' google-youtube...
JUST NO
(IT'S NOT ABOUT FEELING FOR THEM IT'S ABOUT THE PRIVACY FROM 100'S OF MASTODON CLICKERS).

Gracefully disconnects.

I have the ability to re-connect but really there are limits / good practices at stake here.

Money is arguably an epidemic* of itself

* Epidemic (in this context)
= A widespread outbreak of an infectious disease*; many people are infected at the same time

*Disease (in this context)
An impairment of health or a condition of abnormal functioning

Anyone *not know* what Systematic Violence and Structural Violence is?

( just out of interest - not to show you up because I also don't know it all )

@tyil
That means you had more or was 200 total ! I have to admit it's pretty easy to do for various reasons

(research, wanting to support everyone, trying to copy good things etc...)

suffering can be avoided
just depends how we go about caring about it

Longer / Extended / Non-TL;DR

For many fields this includes zooming out - why?

- because each field is inside a construct and understanding your own fields construct helps you see overall what is happening (inside your field and outside)

- the power of 'jobs' is that each has a fairly narrow set of behaviours / paid actions / requirements / specifications in the contract (isn't paid to discuss direction higher up / expected just to follow / not talk about 'out of context stuff' / overall not talk about things etc)

@PawelK Chumbawamba ! Try YouTube without adverts of the queen pants for sale on discount due to overstocking!

Also on my website ! freeschool.0id.org/audio-music

Chess comments about Male / Female players.

Blown up more than it should but
- yes academically there are differences between men/women in studies / games / sports
- physically also differences (not just muscles in biology but other things)
- training is important too to complement natural talent and expand upon it to achieve higher levels

@barefootstache Ok that's a win... but I think you had already Mastodon added so (if that's the case) then I'm looking for newly added Mastodon logo on their site not if you already had (but already got points for doing already) 🤩 :mastodon:

I can totally hear these issues in what you said; about the

- aesthetics / interface / credibility
- fragility / uptime of instances

of the non-YouTube instances

and reply is
- if we were to be realistic (or just more realistic) there is no way to really run all these videos and hardware or finance ( that YouTube / Google does using questionable means) without anyway the mass natural damage (water cooling, hardware, electricity etc) not to mention making more money for them more than us and the financial part of that chain selling data

Whatever cause or life we believe in we have to preserve. Google just hammers on all this.

- 24hrs of video in every 1 hour.
(Just on google youtube) is just sick and well it was bound to come to finding our limits (our planet).

Leveraging resources for all-you-can-eat video data for corporations to feed on isn't great either...

Any bottle-necks or poor subsidizing ways always come back to us and far from sustainable.

So videos are good but reality can't do it. We mostly have realised we are running out of everything, even water for the data centres in some places!

Even the little money we get from it (banks saying 'we have no money' and price increases are defeating any increase or profit we might get...

Just too many things - totally without rage here- just clear across the board how almost one or few people went all in and came short...
none of the funny money / banks / data - can get nature back or the political weight or surveillance society ... so having a few vids yea but no way is it possible for all the politics, design in nature + high tech gear + energy deny that we basically suck the life out
of,

Megabytes-per-second upstream + then down all mostly to be disposed of... with little regard or inside what it takes (all the above lol- or simply realising it's not as easy as we think).

I have a picture of a person on a life-support machine and they are considering to take the plug out to charge their phone! Because their battery is low on their phone they don't see the 'connection' between the two... ! :)

I'm only asking directly right now you add filtered links first to alleviate people's being taken advantage of and I'll revisit this post later to checkup on it...

By not checking this or asking why Google / YouTube will never respect how they do things... they don't have to find a better way to 'make' money from us as it's their product (we are their product),

[ sympathetic pause,... ]

...
By the way the "not wanting to starve YouTube" part made me laugh out loud :)
With 8-11million or billion in profits per month I don't think you need worry or put emphasis that somehow we'll stave them.

'Starving' 'google' that s good one!

Let me know what your final planes and stance is thanks!

If you try to solve problems without fully understanding it (not understanding life somewhat as the overall construct for whatever problem that lies inside) then much of what you do can be making it worse or putting water into a boat with a big deliberate hole in it.

Using the same means to undermine those new idea or new things will surely not work (not be probable / will encourage the same things / waste more energy).

Thinking and talking about it really (between life) is just that long homework everyone has to do or else suffer from not knowing or judging incorrectly where the holes are, or even the assholes standing in front of the real assholes in the back doing their work unquestioned / undisturbed.

@PiedraFiera There will be an audio released about this very topic if you have notifications on, you will see it).

I find myself repeating myself and it seems a blind spot is what I'm regularly hitting where a transfer into technology suddenly masks stuff or people go for it (recently I've had lots of example that shows people's weakness or logic ladder which puts speed in front of their principles or completely overlooking damage of tech in order to maybe kinda hopefully gain some ground somehow to something which in the hands of fools [gov] (or just people conscerned with money) is not even a solution they would take if you put it right in front of them. And I think we hit that point many time in history - yes printing press or being able to feed the world, they / current rulers just step it up for even more profit and try suppress any good / tax the hell out it rendering it meaningless / VERY expensive which = people's time and hours to get that money and still not really get any real change just more stuff even in education along the way. We want change!

Few points I'm still amazed by:

- how people say "I do not think the machines are the problem..."

- how they / tech fans etc don't see people behind machines (literally men behind machines controlling / regulating / funding / etc and choosing what does and doesn't get through) like it's away from politics or even could be possible - hardly apolitical or non-bias - really still similar to regulating / allowing tanks just more nicer tech (military drone, then domestic drones, military optics, domestic cameras etc)

- how people trust the government or do not think that banks or government regulate STEM or machines itself and do these things primarily (and pay for it blind) is crazy for me / without reasoning

- how people forget everything is basically for as much tax and profit to head company that all companies are registered to (their government on that land mass)

- how technology takes away access or limits as well as gives things [1 way onl or take-all-or-take-nothing usage / take it or leave it ultimatums from American cyberspace / world of laws etc... highly risky externalization similar to having most company cars from American, connect to and maintain by them.. people would be more dubious but behind computers and tech it's suddenly innocent or not connected to political people - it's just a car without the resources and everything that needed command and conquer supply lines to get there.

Anyway forgive me, not a big rant the audio will cover it - hope that's good enough for now for bit by bit work / between sips of tea. Thanks.

Problems of Trialware etc is that it's limited / incomplete features (basically author strips program), so I don't download it or deliberately lets you get to some level and you realise "oh I need this part that's not there". Some are generous but I guess the main thing is not needing to do these kinds of shenanigans to give it all and get as much as people can give... even a virtual coffee or thanks counter - just something!

At the same time problems of FOSS or full software is that we can't pay people back others really (so for example without money or buying giving something else in exchange as well as some paying etc)... or it's hard even to contact them

Ok that's the equation... about getting and giving.

Sometimes it's hard just to say thanks (github only for example).

IF 1 person here can add Mastodon to their website or software - I think I might jump for the moon :D 🌝 🚀
Let the :mastodon: :mastodance: begin
