Purely on the merits of these things, what you said works for me...

✔️ - reusing the past ARM hardware (or even newer ARM)

✔️ - funding raspberry pi more than anything else

✔️ - not tying into new tech / using old or friendly people reduces back doors

❓ ... and technical specifics I don't know of right now, but I might even accept less performance for 'longevity' or 'encouragement' of those things 'good'/more stable rather than everything else cheaper or brute-force as heat makers or costly-to-earth- complicated components subsidised by public money / taxed by banks all-the-while.

❗ ... and their owners who turn out to be quite political (very aligned with the state / gov's that enable and fund them!! Oh dear STEM what happened to you - were you always badly funded?)

- it's a small is beautiful kind of theory perhaps (doesn't create as many massive fires perhaps)

- I don't think scaling up anything works to the extent of involving / creating more problems that it solves.
(short answer: It's a human thing here, small makes people do it themselves, scaling up that encourages ignorance and short-cuts then end up making things too short somewhere else in the world! i.e. scaling up encourages more ignorance than people having to deal with their own stuff / wants / needs )

Other reasons / notes why it might work:

- 'resilience' might be better as a cluster

- Might make adding / subtracting power from number of boards more measurable in some way or useful

OTHER POLITICAL STUFF

- Without people learning to do better decision making themselves, super-computers fail us all or encourage a lot more mismanagement by people we never see controlling / designing super-computers.

- Cheap is often manipulation to introduce things [Every thing is expensive in many meanings of the word]. Because of that (even to a weak degree) doing things only because it's cheap is often the wrong way :) in many ways 🤑 🐟 🎣
(that's industry----^ corralling fish using 'cheap' as supermarkets do.)

The language level is less the issue, it's more about your will-power and perseverance that is what is higher value and trumps almost all problems. So I'm honoured to hear you have that and language is not the first thing.

SIDE-NOTE: Relative to language... I've also enjoyed the experience of people who don't have language and had the best chats because for that reason we / they work harder to *study* what I write or wht we mean ... so indirectly they / we care more! Interesting !

This studying or caring can be knowing or not but the fact you look up things and think about them is golden to conversation which even native people miss or assume too quickly and can take years for native people to come back to looking up the words again as each word has minimum ~3+ meanings so good to study the dictionary :book (daily) to revise it all again... which is what I actually do so this is maybe how it works well for us this way. ABOUT VIDEO AND FILESIZES
- AUDIO HELPS ME AND THE MANY IN THE WORLD
- NON-1080P RESOLUTION ALSO HELPS

PLEASE PLEASE make the audio stream version available - I often don't have a chance for video always and I take audio excerpts which helps to already have as audio since I listen to things... (lots of reasons but that would help your end on a setting to get audio stream transcoded...)

Also not ratting you but 2nd thing is 1080p version of these files which is a sickeningly amount of a big file (per video) and bandwidth ad lots of energy and hardware to push it up and down places...

+already the 720+480p+360p versions (seems you don't have 480p and 360p is still quite excellent)

So much suggestion is 720p or 360p
It's not your fault but people also forget or don't know peertube DEFAULTS to 1080p - just horrible 2gb file for a few hours of stills and voiceovers (or even clips or films shouldn't default to 1080p so for this education I'd say it's not needed / over-bloating)

Your call but to summarise
a) audio only version on PeerTube for your videos
b) take off 1080p video and save the world quite literally by not having it on! (don't worry it exist elsewhere!)

As I see it there is a fine line between friend and foe or connect and disconnect...

and it's proportionate to what we have been taught and not taught (this can measured / see by the system we are in and our individual experiences to confirm that somewhat)

So if we as societies came from capitalism + warlord based + number-only thinking ways (mostly) then it's no surprise for some of this.. and why I mention this is because even people working together can quickly dissipate over some small differences because of not planning ever to have talk before or making space or doing any homework... and if I add my own bias (sorry) then it's just code code code and not human practise and at the end we just have machine code with project going up and down.. (and actually many do much better than this ^^) but still they are not able to something less than all or nothing (the title of this post)... which I guess is learning by talking about it... or even being inclusive to other like-minded followers and even friends who can't code so much... still ti's exclusive / not working towards inclusiveness...

If feels a bit harsh but I know whatever we do it's going to need just about *everyone* !

What we have been taught as 'job' misdirected as standards and luxury we have grow to expect all come into this and harmonising out of that (balancing / accepting people have troubles) is not what jobs are designed for (jobs as a construct is like making bullets out of people and money)

So again without distraction, us all accepting *those* things is very much like a bad chess game, BUT it's what we've been given and can't pretend it's fair, but can live with eyes open and communication allowed a bit more. (this would save people just disconnecting and even solving things).

Again I can't say if this Captain thought "it's not worth more trouble" but this is a common thought for people even in their own jobs / position / family.. so I put more weight on many of these things that are untrained / less prastised / heavier emotional people stuff and even baggage we could help carry for others and even solve...

Sorry if it's long but the complex problems always are.

WHAT HAPPENS IF YOUR CAPTAIN DISAPPEARS / GOES OFF ON AN ADVENTURE?

For sure not responsible when your captain is gone without some signal.. at all !

And at the same time being human and being forced into the existing world does make it difficult which I would expect any captain or boss to have as a difficult decision in the future (of which probably there isn't the best way always as external forces exist / often against us)... but yeah talking about even though lately I realise people who are proven incapable can be worse to tell (they can work against you).

So without being too dramatic, for this case specifically there seems no bad disconnect or more the 'vanishing' type of silence rather than emotions and then disconnect then silence... so it's not clear on the captains side why and if it's in a + / - think (although I agree a year is a long time and even the best faith would have to take over).

CONCLUSION
Overall I know not much about this, but as a general kind of principle I would hold my captain in good thought until it's clear we have differences and hopefully battle it out well / skilfully which can still be a 'graceful disconnection' if any and could happen as amicable / wanted / progressive disconnect (many can't see it this way or expect it's possible or see overall as kind of zooming out).

Emotions, Emotions... But with this it's hard to say so yes carrying on until captain comes back and maybe talking about it again from wherever people are at in their head.

Reminds me of when friends go on an adventure or a tangent and then they slowly come back to talking / learning from situation (maybe more than once!)...

We'll see how this story happens :) but it's to be expected really in life and we see it happen more often - even with captain of Mastodon instances closing the show as well as other opening new ones. (expecting Mastodon related things and people having trouble / human related things / things not forever, is good and then practising how to handle these things better is the way for me and talking about it openly or for those caring is the way for me).

1st homework - Enable notifications for topics / message

This allows you to see immediately when I post and then choose after a week if I am interesting or not!
It can be quite fast and seemingly furious BUT ignore what you want just do choose some to reply (or not!).
If after a week there is 0 enrichment for you then great, at least you tried it and can click off the bell and even unfollow me! Well done / tested!

The main thing is to try me out rather than get lost between fragments of 100 of other followers or random posts you might have- so this way is clear and done! Notifications Shows my thinking / sentiments / direction a lot more clearly in one line and then you can ditch me just as fast with clarity after about a week!)

It's all easier when you're driving sometimes- yes you can wait for my posts or triggering things but also your own direction and outlook is good to do as some of the driving / testing things out.

Others will always get the best from you when you're happy doing whatever you love to do - it's one big happy circle in this way :)

3rd homework - Audio Chat?
Some people don't offer this (at all) or find it new as an idea to actually present your ideas directly by actually talk (now we have safer ways like Jitsi Meet)... but if it's early and you don't want to know why it's better than talk than text, that's ok!).

I really just have free time and have no bad idea with this. I think my own motivation with yours can find relativity with personalities that like to speak not text(!)... It's almost a disability we force on people to text / SMS only and quite Orwellian through machines and code!
Anyway I experience chat as easy way solve many things fast (easy to say *everything* solved but talking real respect and a lot more respectful that text where the 1-way emotions aer less controlled! So talk to me I promise not to be really anything too extreme and enjoy myself and whatever you say!)

On a practical level chat means we can also solve things if we agree something is worth doing (yours or mine) so this is opportunity for "you name it, and we'll do it!" at least in the talking phase of solving things.
You will be surprised sometimes a friendly person can help solve it ****now****!

I'll also be happy to do things for you and let you know when done! Just ask and I'll give you my feelings on if I fancy doing it / Y / N etc.

So that's audio chat if you ever want / need. Nothing bad intended AND I have experience many positives.
