"What works" in education depends on what you are trying to accomplish.

@garyackerman Hi, is this account for one-way posting only [posting but not replying very much to people? i.e. you don't want contact or very much of it / being very selective etc?)

Another FTP style file storage example that simple works and is shit fast:

mypal-browser.org/release/

Not bad for half century old protocol :)

@Talkless It was in higher resolutions but it was good for me that I can reduce it ( other people's video's only has medium or HD as option reducing my surfing speed at the same time as loading... )

Great. Nice to hear back.
I'm a person able to do this kind of tune up of people's material so you're welcome.

I also do podcast if you're interested in anything. For example a few sound bites recorded about what you think about the world (anything almost). Well anyway... more info here of the podcast called 'Your Love and Logic':

qoto.org/@freeschool/111629539

Responsive people get rewards of getting stuff done. Any ideas welcome for yourself (if it's not too far away from freedom and loving things).

@Talkless I guess that /is/ a kind of reality and while I'd not like you to go without I am considering that is how it has to go else false economy (and planet with it) continues elsewhere while we leave things on etc...
Without reducing the negatives of 'money on everything' and 'free world for payers' the world at it's current iterating in everything to mess things (even things that work) would just end up holding out on people or reducing it's effective benefits... it's natural in the cycle of deliberately messing things and just not giving at all... :/

@Talkless Hi.
- Alternative link below is to that video which clears the adverts and commercial code:
invidious.fdn.fr/watch?v=13WQF

- Also kudos as I noticed you have low resolution on your vids making it quicker to watch your stuff and while having low connection sometimes... The medium and 1080p style stuff was actually stopping video and such bloat that it's good it was stopping me from such consumption on small screen. +1

- Any big plans for your direction?
(I am new to your stuff).

- Oh your channel is here also with 'nicer' link which you could add on your Fediverse bio. Nice.

@garyackerman Disagree (in the nicest way as I read some more posts enjoyably).

You can test almost anything

AND people have tested on mice and people regularly.

They can see the regular results... such as charging people more = a certain result or behaviour (deterrent or incentive)... or punishment and threats of fines = force people into another way

and then than = a direct result coming to change something effectively moving people from "here" to "over there" ...

Wicked problems can often be very clearly defined by what holds the person (often in terms of humanity). So if you are talking about problems in relative terms to a person then looking at people as money only might turn them into nasties or just anything that doesn't consider the basics (and in the modern world debases itself based on debt that ever increases or encourages people to sell everything including their soul and grandma... which still isn't enough as debt x debt = more debt with salaries that stay the same and house prices sky rocket).

If you have a sterilising system - perpaps lacking input and creativity to solve humanities basics (let alone feed off them like a unquenchable vampire) -> then you are effectively blocking human life (other than a work life ignoring that what humans need)
...then you can say that is inherited or systematic wicked people from those who might not can to starve brains or physically starving them to do even worse work / debt for others in the world.

Happy to hear thoughts on those basics (or just Yes / No / Maybe overall)

I think one’s interpretation of problems can be agreed on macro level but the resolution as often that takes many people's will to achieve and not possible to always prescribe.

@garyackerman Agree.
Maybe an example would help...

(I'll also include what I wrote below because I already wrote it! But consider it optional to read)

I think it can also be assumed that something named can become suddenly an object or objectified; either static or owned or impersonal or as possession like extension of someone or some people... when it's really also part of many other things.

Would this be similar to what you meant?

(I assume you mean that things are made from many other things and naming them can stop them / us seeing the continuity and variability that makes them interesting.)

Thanks

People who say others are stupid often fail to see others are deliberately doing it as a measurable technique.

Example below, without being harsh to Gary Ackerman, but lots of people online right now also:

qoto.org/@garyackerman/1117493

@garyackerman

If people don't measure, it does not mean they are not clever enough.

So I disagree with what was said.

Often the opposite is true, as the methodology and matrix they use (and evolution of it maybe 100's of years) is for the exact focuses the choose for themselves or for the "House" / royalty or authority above them.

People today are deliberately not selecting things to measure and using it for their own benefit.

They know what not to care about and accept only certain exchanges that benefit them more often.

For example: Business itself is about extraction, economy and taking from people to feed control or takeover. (short way to say it!)
Manipulation is the choosing itself of any numbers towards profit and percentages from human bodies to increase the centre or owners (or many similar words).

Nobody really cares what you think (as a kind of quick test and you are mostly just a body inside 'the system' for the system and all life today is unfortunately inheriting that "taken from" starting point as systems (of people) get better at limiting or reducing choice to snowball that system or way of looking at others.

Hard to tell STEM people that it too (I.T.) is used for funding more "this" abuse than "that" solving things... but I don't want to pop people's bubble of safety either if they think otherwise. It's a hard one to escape when even your birth was started by inherited political ways (such as feeding you with money) as the very default for our very own lives coming from top down, with banks and those types of 'usury' people willing to add more desperate for money (debt) in order to get them to do what they want or have power / ownership over them.

I accept something better doesn't exist (unless you talk to me and make it happen) or isn't created as a 'job' to solve problems (duh who would make things against themselves!), but that's why we have to create our own better games as they and the history have surely proven otherwise that things don't change often enough unless we're part of it (and others can suggest how to be part of that- so message me and let's get talking about anything).

Giving is about time. If giving is just about money and not time, then it's failed...

Giving is about HUMAN time.

If giving is just about money and not time, then it's failing unless quickly human time is given more often. If I'm wrong give me a solid scenario...

If problem solving or trouble-shooting is the aim a lot of the time, then top most valuable thing is to give time and then do that together.

It can be chicken and egg, but always 'time' is what everything uses anyway in terms of Human's doing something well or doing it badly (yes in-betweens also but no more easy to see much by others 'given' to us is trojan horsed including money).

So moneydoes such 'good work' (starting as debt) and rules and regulation (by uncaring people) stop and sterilise all companies... we know they are not going to give us freedom (because they could at any time by reducing how much extra they take and how much we pay for everyone else's time and services!).

Of course you sometimes can't start from just looking as an overview but more and more can BUT WE DON'T USE THEM (like me).

We also know BIG holes and sometimes step into them (so that is A BIG PROBLEM IN ITSELF).

I can even accept hypocrisy if it has inklings of logic, know-how and even dreaming or imagining a new world if it can be persistent with some realism. A lot of people dare not dream or create so almost stop themselves from being part of life...

Are you a non-player?
- No? Then give me your time
(text and voice messages via Mastodon please). Just reading this isn't always the complete circle (unless we talked before which is fine).

@janbeta █

Awesome how I land on something I have played with, and now comment on someone still going strong !
(heartfelt kudos)

█ Suggestion I have, please:

#1 Use Invidious links instead of YouTube (why - it's the same links to YouTube but Ad-filtered and has link to Google's YouTube page if users really wants / cares)

#2 Add to your MASTODON PROFILE link to your YouTube profile description ! :) (Why- Gets more knowing you're on here, luckily I saw you on Mastodon first otherwise I wouldn't really have seen it always on a video page with the the other list of links further down the page)

#3 Or add more in channel description (including Mastodon), as below:

EQUIPMENT AND TOOLS I USE: kit.co/janbeta *

Many times people say they don't like SMS OTP, but what they seem to miss out is, unlike software that runs independently on our devices without a server or don't need to interact with others, a messaging app choice is much more complicated. Looking at it as a binary of either
1. making the exact compromise of using centralized platforms for our contacts or
2. staying isolated on our federated platforms (#Matrix, #xmpp)
is not really scaling up or we are losing out.

The aim of tech should be to allow the most basic version of an app or stable evolution and still cater for those people, rather than face constant new mixed-in dangers of changing big steps without this kind of 'backup' plan.

Loading websites for example, many sites that haven't changed at all but have forced overlay saying "You need to upgrade your browser to continue" etc.

At least I feel like that now more than ever because we have reached enough of a level for social change etc (if some of us want it hard enough with text zoom-like chat etc...) and only need reduce talking to machines most of the day!).

I'm thinking the upgrading of things browser-based is almost as unneeded monopoly / irrational market forces and further reducing useful things by monetising even more etc.

Any new tech that doesn't incorporate the old and/or switches up a user's version often and forcibly when they don't really need to I think is doomed...

█ a) for users constantly getting rug-pulled or having to change when happier with old and still workable

█ b) dev making things with too many whistles and not focussing on human change (for example) breaking their own appeal while everyone races to breaks theirs at the same time. There is good reasons protocol have been around and still used (FTP, XMPP, Email) and perhaps good examples of being a little too overcomplicated in their evolution (deliberately)

rant over - but shout if you feel me!

BOOST IF YOU FEEL ME ABOUT UNNECESSARY UPGRADES ! :boost:

AND ABOUT THE MORE FREE SHIT WE DON'T WANT / WANT TO BE ABLE TO SELECT ! :win3_control_panel:

@bibliolater If code updates to break browser like mainstream technology ( forcing you to upgrade browser and get other gimmick in ) then I might well be off...
The aim of tech (more than ever I feel) should be to allow most basic version and still cater for it, else face constant new mixed-in dangers and 3rd party attacks / more adverts etc...

quote me on the below!...

(a reply or two might have got deleted but anyway I got it and read them)

"Not just lots of users but even for a single singe user. I was the sole user when I started out and within less than a week, my server's disk space shot to 1GB. Being new to the Fediverse (and of course, how Mastodon works), I was shocked..haha!

Oh, I forgot to mention the other task of tweaking Sidekiq (did I spell that right?)."
