Google designs and paves road to suit their car and then claim their car is the fastest.
Some race!

Lack of education might the downfall of any profession, but over-education can also leave common people behind where those common people need time, space and people to practise with at least in the understanding simply.

A simple bridge which professionalism in it's own container seems to avoid doing by nature possibly related to profit or in the container of profit entities.

and a METAPHOR FOR : It's not a bug, it's not a vulnerability it's just BY the default deliberately badly designed products...

It's a feature (*for them*) and business as a lock or security maker or as a lock / security business (legalised lock pickers / locksmiths when you lose your key, less than 10seconds with quite simple tools just not known by people ).

For them it's to be able to 'break' security easily / charge 100's for opening locks (worse on a Sunday as it's x2 and the guy advised to charge the few hundred euro to insurance, mentioning it while making the claim that there was evidence of tampering or force) and just that kind of shitty security for my uncle letting the wind close the door behind him (apartments lock when door is closed by default and have no knob to turn) - more by obscurity safe than anything on purpose secure this video shows and not worth the money for the same barrel or mechanism almost since it's invention, just better looking locks or better housing (waste of metal basically).

So primarily by design, things are flawed as I see it as this mentality is copied or enforced everywhere... and they don't want the domestic public to really have anything unbreakable...

Flawed stuff for money and control - sound familiar - is it conspiracy or group of people who agree to design bad tech?
YES!!

Almost all locks on the market and are:
- security by obscurity
- designed with backdoors if not bad already
- deliberate-by-design

And for and maybe similar perhaps so a website for that

- defective by design . org [Media Locking]

I guess computing and all Technology is regulated by the same source and copy of mentality (copied and enforced by source / top hierarchy depending on how far back you dig into who is responsible for the same shit everywhere)

Just found at another instance -- and think this is a really important development.

Fedisearch.com allows Full Text Searches on fedinet posted content -- from Mastodon, Pleroma, Misskey instances.

In Mastodon instances, Full Text Search is VERY RARE in my experience. It's available at qoto.org, and one reason I have recommended people to keep an account there if their main account does not provide it.

Even Elite instances have this option turned OFF (to save processor cycles and memory). Silly, because they could support that easily.

Now we have an external search Engine and it works. Tested briefly and found results I knew would be there, shown as expected.

Kudos for a much needed service and thank you to @fedisearch !

Visit https://fedisearch.com to try it out.

Direct Messages are accidentality to self (user forgets to add name or misspells it which is easy to do).

So a symbol or box or exclamation or self note system can show message is just sent to self and not to anybody

Often people think it's sent (but not to anyone else by self so distinguishing can be very useful for catching mistakenly send messages to self)

Also wrote more here about how to check it yourself (like double-checking):

"Show More" button like we have now with CW button but withOUT the CW status:)
To make posts shorter and titles expandable without CW status.
Seems most of the code is already there.

Hi fediverse! Boosts appreciated on this one.

I’m part of a co-op building a platform for artists to sell art without getting exploited. I’ve been working on it for a while but there’s a lot of work to do and I could use some help. A ton of the main features are in place, but there’s still some big gaps and a lot of polish left before it can launch.

The platform is fully open source and developed in the open. It’s built on Phoenix/Elixir and Tailwindcss. Our co-op is already incorporated and established and it’s open to members that want to actually commit but you don’t need to be a member to contribute or help.

Does this sound interesting? I’d love some help! I’m also happy to answer questions. And no, you don’t need to know Elixir already. It’s pretty easy to learn for the things you’d be using it for. Even some design help would be welcome. Feel free to reply here or DM me!

I've been toying with a project idea as of lately. Despite working in information security I'll never be 'cool' - I'm not a malware analyst, my threat intelligence skillset is highly limited, I won't ever produce amazing security tools like other people. I've accepted that.

But, what I can do: Support others at doing all of these things. I know what hassle it can be to want to get a website for your cool projects up and running, but not really knowing where to start, and how.

Or being in the position of not being able to afford reasonable hosting that's not a horrible freemium-hoster that sells your data and bombards your readers with ads (Yes, I am indeed looking at you Medium).

I thought to myself to offer people sort of a one-stop-shop for basic Internet needs. Shell-access to run tools, mail-account with a domain that's not GMX, live.com or something like that and the ability to host their blog, journal, website and so on. Free of charge.

Concept-wise it would be similar to the Tildeverse, with the difference being that I would try to help out folks with setting up whatever they have issues with & with the offering specifically targeted at, but not limited to, groups that are otherwise often at a disadvantage (for example beginners, young people, groups that suffer discrimination).

I've not yet fully sketched out everything, but I wanted to hear what people think. My reach within the Fediverse is highly limited, so I would much appreciate any boosts and / or feedback. So I can find out if this would actually be useful to anyone. :)

Make your own private music and podcast streaming service with Nextcloud Music:

growyourown.services/review-of

Overall this was really nice!

You need to supply the music files and podcast addresses yourself, but once that's done you get a proper private, independent streaming service that also works on mobile apps.

BTW, do check out @powderpaint, especially their album Powderpaint and track Constellation

Anybody have any advice for a co-op house that’s looking to run a server of its own (email domain, message board stuff, media sharing etc.) on a budget?
