MUSIC LYRICS: NAZI / FINANCE RELATED
by Chumbawamba

The world is riddled of maggots
The maggots are getting fat
Their making a tasty meal of the bosses and bureaucrats
Their taking over the boardrooms and their fat and full of pride
And they all came out of the woodwork the day the Nazi died...

(the rest is mixed music and message but this is generally a great Anarcho-pop-punk-cabaret-folk and did what they could to mix with movements and said a lot really well... (not just scream-punk)

- Chumbawamba: The Day The Nazi Died

VIDEO (AUTO-JUMPS TO 27sec)
The rest I ignored, is better according to album as it maintains similar theme or phase of music (does seem different without album and mixed up live).

WHAT'S YOUR SUPER-POWER ?
(WORLD-BUILDING)

STATE YOU NAME AND POWER BELOW THIS POST! HERE'S WHY...

I'm world-building here... (thinking of what the world could be like and kinda of making it up as I go along simply needing you to do the same for it to happen!)

So my server has some clever people and we could be...
an ALL-STARS TEAM !

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All-star

SO ask yourself and your server to "WHAT'S YOUR NAME AND SUPER POWER?"
and then simply use those willing to change the the world... USING THEMSELVES!

(ok not simple but a text list even for fun MIGHT JUST DO IT!)

ANYWAY CONSIDER IT EVEN FOR FUN SUPERMAN/PERSON

I imagine QOTO asking each person their skills and then we change the world / mix and match etc... feels too distant right now or just text /picture based but one day we actually talk and get stuff done regardless of MY PhD (People-healing Disorder)

---------------
ABOUT VIDEO
---------------
Source video is from POP SONG
YES POP MUSIC FOR A FILM called Mystery Men (that's Ben Stiller - he's ok)

Intro is the best bit
... from Mystery Men film (1999 American superhero comedy film - if I did see it I forgot but I don't watch Hollywood since years). I just love video this for the beginning clip... and my world-build fantasies.

and the rest of video I had to really chance it and it turned out ok... after trying to see what he says at beginning which maybe isn't that important but I was like WTF! And the intro is slow enough walking on a pavement to suddenly 'kick in' so that's how I see the intro working lol...

After intro = Gets catchy after - just be patient... and remember the super hero power more than this song!

I like some of the talking to 'camera with attitude' stuff saying 'hey now you're a rock-star' etc...

ANYWAY PLAY THE VIDEO (AGAIN)... AND WRITE THERE YOUR SUPER POWER...

MINE IS REASONING WITHOUT EXTREMES AND PERHAPS EDITING THINGS... A MARATHON RUNNER FOR WHATEVER I DO!

( AW GAWD I HOPE SOMEONE ELSE REPLIES TO THIS WITH SOMETHING BETTER ! ) 🚀 BOOST! :mastodon: :mastodon: ⭐ :blobhero:

WEBSITES HAVE IMPROVED!
(FOR ME)

Just wanted to say thanks to all the simple sites out there (from Mastodon at least) that allow even old things to read the page

- sites that are almost as "HTML" as you can get... even plain looking- EXCELLENT!

It's really helped in loading and reading, and important for the future I think.

Some sites almost literally block themselves lol or have increased sensitivities or warnings that block reading at all! (All or nothing ultimatums)

Try not to be too clever. Let your content be in simple form. The future will thank you.

not maybe

Quality time with everyone is perhaps the base work to be done and to be remembered no matter what you do. Something sacred* in this even.

* = worthy of respect or dedication (perhaps build / healing life).

A sort of interaction that is not wanting to hurt a person and without being intentionally dividing or blocking between you... but also indicating your current understanding or thoughts in appreciating something that can balance things perhaps with a sense of humour or humanness in between...

SERVICE PROVIDERS
(THE COUNTRY IT'S IN and working from, NOT just the company)

If your service provider is tyrannic / highly Capitalistic then my conclusion is increasingly that the sub-services are also part of that and arguably have no choice to follow the various rules, laws, conditions and terms of service themself as a company!

Big tech companies or corporations stem from an umbrella company (the state and use banks as control points) so if America is quite bad in that way itself then all American companies have to work inside their logic and mentality (and some arguably like to support state).

Easy to see it's the parent company that helps company exist since it registers to it from start and gets supply of work to it... so helping state helps yourself in this bad equation which might be said as:

- state+company(s) catch all fish
- bosses of control vs individual workers = Win for them

= WIN:WIN = state:company
(much more than individuals at least who are barely left to stay alive)

I don't want you to hate America as example but what it does as constant pattern or set of rulings over people and method of BS (bullshit or business for short)

Means you do have to hate that or the behaviour.

All countries who copy this command and conquer type behaviour are not great but some are much more cut-throat and proficient than others which I think America and it's companies arguable do well on all fronts literally with it's hooks everywhere.

RAP MUSIC CAN BE CATCHY EVEN IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT!

Rap music (back in the day) is proof for me that with a good beat, or one thing that hooks you into it, then you can listen to something while ignoring what they are saying... LOL

So the beat, voice, flow change, soudn fx, multiple artists featured etc all make for one of these hook which ends up being liked or much more bearable...

I feel like a fish where the bait tastes good but the metal hook I'm aware of bothers me.

RAP VS. GOOGLE ETC...
I think this RAP thing is something I am relating to AS THE GOOGLE THING where people who like what it gives them totally can ignore big holes or bad stuff it's part of, similar to a parent who might ask teh kid "WTF are you listening to?" and the kid would say "yeah but you have to listen to the lyrics mum!" (we've all been there!)

HUMAN behaviour perhaps is like that to not see it / reduce important like teenagers keeping hold of their game console or music for sake of nothing else to do or no other music so popular...
(which I have to admit maybe there really was nothing else comparable at the time apart from pop or techno and nothing so easily available to see on MTV etc who pumped it and then we or downloaded it on modems! lol).

Being young does help but still I catch myself saying shit I still like this shit and have to ACTIVELY having two or more people inside me pulling different faces like 'WHA?' and 'WFT' and liking it also!
WHILE I LISTEN TO IT these people (opinions) do battle inside me!

This is for maybe half the RAP I used to have or still do. I do debate getting the instrumental only version but anyway just for a few bars (verses I tend to keep it like 'wow that's so original what they said'). And I don't listen to it that often now!

But yeah it was an art, maybe like any other art now I've moved on / see purified / or jus the new versions seem / less real / less oldschool humble).

Shrug ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

"Why I quit using Google"
by Kyle Piira @kyle

Web page version:

kylepiira.com/2020/01/09/why-i

Text version below (no hyperlinks)

So I was recently asked why I prefer to use free and open source software over more conventional and popular proprietary software and services.

A few years ago I was an avid Google user. I was deeply embedded in the Google ecosystem and used their products everywhere. I used Gmail for email, Google Calendar and Contacts for PIM, YouTube for entertainment, Google Newsstand for news, Android for mobile, and Chrome as my web browser.

I would upload all of my family photos to Google Photos and all of my personal documents to Google Drive (which were all in Google Docs format). I used Google Domains to register my domain names for websites where I would keep track of my users using Google Analytics and monetize them using Google AdSense.

I used Google Hangouts (one of Google’s previous messaging plays) to communicate with friends and family and Google Wallet (with debit card) to buy things online and in-store.

My home is covered with Google Homes (1 in my office, 1 in my bedroom, 1 in the main living area) which I would use to play music on my Google Play Music subscription and podcasts from Google Podcasts.

I have easily invested thousands of dollars into my Google account to buy movies, TV shows, apps, and Google hardware devices. This was truly the Google life.

Then one day, I received an email from Google that changed everything.
“Your account has been suspended”

Just the thing you want to wake up to in the morning. An email from Google saying that your account has been suspended due to a perceived Terms of Use violation. No prior warning. No appeals process. No number to call. Trying to sign in to your Google account yields an error and all of your connected devices are signed out. All of your Google data, your photos, emails, contacts, calendars, purchased movies and TV shows. All gone.

I nearly had a heart attack, until I saw that the Google account that had been suspended was in fact not my main personal Google account, but a throwaway Gmail account that I created years prior for a project. I hadn’t touched the other account since creation and forgot it existed. Apparently my personal Gmail was listed as the recovery address for the throwaway account and that’s why I received the termination email.

Although I was able to breathe a sigh of relief this time, the email was wake up call. I was forced to critically reevaluate my dependence on a single company for all the tech products and services in my life.

I found myself to be a frog in a heating pot of water and I made the decision that I was going to jump out.
Leaving Google

Today there are plenty of lists on the internet providing alternatives to Google services such as this and this. Although the “DeGoogle” movement was still in its infancy when I was making the move.

The first Google service I decided to drop was Gmail, the heart of my online identity. I migrated to Fastmail with my own domain in case I needed to move again (hint: glad I did, now I self host my email). Fastmail also provided calendar and contacts solutions so that took care of leaving Google Calendar and Contacts.

Here are some other alternatives that I moved to:

Gmail → Fastmail → Self-hosted (via Cloudron)
Google Contacts → Fastmail → Nextcloud Contacts
Google Calendar → Fastmail → Nextcloud Calendar
Google Search → Bing → DuckDuckGo
Google Maps → Bing Maps → OpenStreetMaps and OsmAnd
Google Analytics → Matomo Analytics
Google Drive → Nextcloud Files
Google Photos → Nextcloud Files/Gallery
Google Docs → Collabora Office (Nextcloud integration) and LibreOffice
Google Play Music → Spotify / Plex → Spotify / Jellyfin
Google Play Movies/TV → Plex → Jellyfin
Google Play Audiobooks/Books → Audible/Kindle
Google Play Store (apps) → F-Droid / Aurora Store
Google Android → Lineage OS → Ubuntu Touch on PinePhone (coming soon?)
Google’s Android Apps → Simple Mobile Tools
Google Chrome → Mozilla Firefox
Google Domains → Hover
Google Hangouts → Matrix and Nextcloud Talk
Google Allo → Signal
Google Podcasts → PocketCasts → AntennaPod
Google Newsstand → RSS
Google Wallet → PayPal and Cash App
Google Voice →Ting Mobile

Migrating away from Google was not a fast or easy process. It took years to get where I am now and there are still several Google services that I depend on: YouTube and Google Home.

Eventually, my Google Home’s will grow old and become unsupported at which point hopefully the Mycroft devices have matured and become available for purchase. YouTube may never be replaced (although I do hope for projects like PeerTube to succeed) but I find the compromise of using only one or two Google services to be acceptable.

At this point losing my Google account due to a mistake in their machine learning would largely be inconsequential and my focus has shifted to leaving Amazon which I use for most of my shopping and cloud services.

The reason that I moved to mostly FOSS applications is that it seems to be the only software ecosystem where everything works seamlessly together and I don’t have to cede control to any single company. Alternatively I could have simply split my service usage up evenly across Google, Microsoft, Amazon, and Apple but I don’t feel that they would have worked as nicely together.

Overall I’m very happy with the open source ecosystem. I use Ubuntu with KDE on all of my computers and Android (no GApps) on my mobile phone. I’ve ordered the PinePhone “Brave Heart” and hope to one day be able to use it or one of its successors as a daily driver with Ubuntu Touch or Plasma Mobile.

I don’t want to give the impression that I exclusively use open source software either, I do use a number of proprietary apps including: Sublime Text, Typora, and Cloudron.

HOW TO MANGE 100's REPLIES? A solution......IF YOUR POPULAR !

I am surprised creators of things respond to anything after 10 replies (as it's time used away from actually developing but also I guess it's part of it to listen...)

UNLESS

You have groups of people read for you also... AND have it more LIVE-show style and have this regularly (and relieve pressure using text-only 'spam' and repeating of ideas)

So this is my answer to myself I think my similar post about 1000's of YouTube comments
(literally a lot which some % even 10% could be actually clever replies / worth reply to fans!):

'what to do if you're a YouTuber and have too many genuine comments?'

So you have a pyramid form of people which funnel to narrow part of pyramid

|
|| these guys have meetings with top with best and cream of points
/ / | \ \ they talk with each other / refine points from below
/ / | | \ \ mass that needs filtering

Also I would also LIVE AUDIO CHAT and host it myself!
(not video as bandwidth is sickeningly too much / dead energy at the end / disposed of / requiring too much hardware and heat.... and audio does near-0 at idle alone <--- LOL <3 forever

So how do you like my solution for busy people?
- Filtering and break through the massusing pyramid

No far from forums and more dedicated managers AND someone on live chat! ?

Whats the most important feature you'd like to see added to QOTO?

@porsupah It would be nice if there was a comparison between the main line and the fork. I want to see it too.

Selling and Buying is a lot different from Sharing.

Some might argue selling is sharing things however a lot is not shared in selling and more binary.

And then it's polluted by banks, governments and other money makers... sharing considers a lot more things with much more of a flexible scale of acceptance (not just money).

WWW / BROWSER QUESTION:
Why can't I add all search bars to my search list ?

Usually you are on the search page and click the dropdown list of existing search and sometimes it has "add *xyz searchengine" but often doesn't... is it the browser or search page not adding something?

example:
this search engine doesn't seem to have a way to add:
gigablast.com/

or even my website bar on right

Ted Kaczynski - educated mathematics conscious professor nature-lover terrorist?

He was a mathematics prodigy, former mathematics professor.

He witnessed the destruction of the wilderness surrounding his cabin and concluded that living in nature was becoming impossible.

He resolved to fight industrialization and its destruction of nature through terrorism.

"Industrial Society and Its Future," is a social critique he wrote;
rejecting leftism,
opposing industrialization,
and advocating a nature-centered form of anarchism...
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unabombe

in which he argued that his bombings were extreme but necessary in attracting attention to the erosion of human freedom and dignity by modern technologies that require mass organization.

Influenced by....
His writing echoed contemporary critics of technology and industrialization such as John Zerzan, Jacques Ellul, Rachel Carson, Lewis Mumford, and E. F. Schumacher

Kaczynski was in a remote cabin without electricity or running water near Lincoln, Montana, where he lived as a recluse while learning survival skills to become self-sufficient.
