Music from Cracks (oh yeah a whole new silo!)

"CrackIntros" are a dedicated channel to preserve the underground group of talented people

yewtu.be/channel/UCVEPCEUa9jCa

"CrackIntros" show the undergrounds group of talented people for their programming / code, art and music skills of the time inside their intros / credits.

A crack intro, also known as a cracktro, a loader, or just plain "intro" - is a small introduction sequence added to cracked software. It aims to inform the user which "cracking crew" or individual cracker removed the software's copy protection and distributed the release.

ALGORITHMS are WITHOUT TRANSPARENCY IN LIFE?

" The algorithm and the criteria for the algorithm were secret. "
--------^ we can't live with this happening - it gives them power and their own type of justice (whoever changes algorithm changes the justice)

_________________________
EXTENDED / SUB-TOPIC (OPTIONAL)

In Amazon but not only, the whole non-transparent stuff needs to change for corporations.

It's a major lock-out / choke-point and increasing humanitarian issue as ALGORITHM ARE POLITICAL and part of individual+corporate+government decision-making (Iran (the government) just blocked Signal communication for uprising happening allegedly).

This shows raw reality of computing 'power' (backed by code and humans behind it - innocent and not innocent) who make a big difference.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amazon_W

Amazon faced protests, from ***its own employees*** and activists, for the anti-migrant collaboration with authorities.

2nd part:
At the same time individuals need less to be transparent (with corporations or easy-access info like who their contacts are etc).

LANGUAGE LESSONS - DUTCH
"Advanced Dutch" (see picture)

and also:

What to call the 2nd column... the kinda of translated writing? :)

ABOUT GAMES AND GAMERS:

The real game of life is between people and life.

Not just games playing while on the same server virtually.

(There is a difference. The feeling of togetherness and same goals that can be emulated or simulated by online 'multiplayer' games but not real or constructive enough)

Emulated even opposite to constructive / killing time)

So shooting people virtually on screen :/ not great... even if there are not much other skills to hone or so accessible..

But working with each other over the internet can be possible though just talking without working together can also be limited (but still the slow / fast progress people need better than the same games repetitively shooting others)

Pushing your own boundaries (somehow! not saying it's easy!)

I did think after that 'games' MIGHT bring us together but really it's the design or appreciation of anything / sharing same love for things... deep :)

RETRO COMPUTING MUSIC
ARCHIVE LIST OF EVERYTHING ON MASTODON!

I aim to centralise ALL the RETRO people in 1 post for older "chiptune" game music
+ all the hashtags for the game music and machines so people can go and find more or see what's on Mastodon

One post for all!

Do let me know if this misses any old console hashtgs or people with real retro music passion!)
(I will look at my following and pick the names out... luckily in the avatar it's really easy to spot RETRO GAMES / EARLY COMPUTING people!

THIS POST WILL BE REVISED -
TURN NOTIFICATIONS ON!

OK LET'S GO - SO FAR I HAVE THIS:

A couple of bots by @confusedbunny posting chiptune music tracks from the Atari ST and ZX Spectrum:

➡️ @AtariSTMusic - Music from the Atari ST, posts once a day

➡️ @AYMusic - Music from the ZX Spectrum, posts every four hours

OTHER THOUGHTS:
Somehow I'm not totally into just games but the nostalgia + music is 100% nice and I work in between listening while doing the "real" work or play in life (between people in life- not just games... so let's not go there... yet! Just enjoy together!)

CLIVE SINCLAIR

Clive Sinclair, an interesting read
- entrepreneur and inventor
- pioneer in the computing industry
- developed consumer electronics in the 1970s and early 1980s
- ZX Spectrum!

MY COMMENT:
1 year since his passing. Was too clever perhaps - almost like a bastard is bad, and clever person too clever (IQ of 159 allegedly)- but I guess balance is always the main thing regardless how to balance bastards, average, clever people?

If you're posting a public post on the Fediverse, it will be visible to anyone, even people who aren't on the Fediverse. Every account has a public profile page, which lists all the public posts made by that account.

If you want to keep your Fedi posts off search engines, the best way to do this is to use a non-public visibility setting such as followers-only or mentioned/direct. Search engines cannot see posts with such visibility settings.

On Mastodon, you can also go to Preferences > Other > Opt Out Of Search Engine Indexing, tick the box then click Save Changes. In theory this setting also stops your public posts from ending up in search engines, but in reality it's up to search engines whether they respect your request.

PixelFed has a similar option in Settings > Privacy.

GARDEN / food.... a thought

Just when you think there isn't another hazelnut on the ground and go to walk away:

- you step on one
- another one falls somewhere and you consider collecting yet another one in an infinite loop!

Somehow I think you might not know what I mean - even if you never collect hazelnuts...... !!!!

RETRO COMPUTING GROUP

Hello to the RetroComputing group: @retrocomputing@a.gup.pe

I believe this is the current group which natively you can search in Mastodon by searching for:
@ retrocomputing
(without the space otherwise you get the web page / hyperlink)

You can read the old posts since the change over to new in before ~April 2022 - so old posts are here:
@retrocomputing@gup.pe
(or search @ retrocomputing without the space to see in Mastodon natively)

So if you're reading this in either group I'd like to say hi and add my own interest / experience via this pictur.

I made in an Atari homage and nostalgia anim and welcome anyone to "ping pong" about it :)

A Summer Story of Alan
Written by Mark Watts (son)

In the summer of 1973 I was staying on my father’s ferryboat the Vallejo in Sausalito, and he was living at Druid Heights up on Mount Tamalpais high above San Francisco Bay. Each weekday he would either come down to the boat to get the mail, or I would drive it up the hill to the redwood water-tank library that had been converted into a comfortable place for him to work and write.

One day he thought he’d come down the hill but he still hadn’t shown up by 11, and so I gave a call to see if I should bring the mail up. He said: “Oh yes, please— I became caught up in painting out on the deck, you must see!” Very curious now, I headed up the hill.

When I arrived he was sitting outside on the deck surrounded by long strips of rice paper weighted down with round stones, painting kanji characters with a coarse brush and black ink. With smooth strokes characters would appear, but the brush was also picking up the wood grain from the deck below, mapping its textures in what he described in his book on the Tao as li, or organic pattern.

He offered me the brush and I tried a few strokes, and then he did some more, and I’d never seen him happier or more engaged in the moment. After a while we hung the gorgeous strips with *those* textured characters
from the shelves in the library to fully dry, and he made us good green tea.

A few weeks later my father left on what would be his final lecture tour, and as he passed through more than twenty airports over the next two months I could see that day stayed with him reflected in the recurrent Taoist themes of li and tzu jan - organic pattern and nature: of itself so- heard by his audiences along the way.

QUOTE ABOUT WRITERS:

"Right now I think we need writers who know the difference between production of a market commodity and the practice of an art"

- Ursula K. Le Guin

"The name of our beautiful reward is not profit, it's name is freedom"

- Ursula K. Le Guin

She goes on in the middle to say she see's us accepting the hard conditions set by others, even though we do most of the work writing it and let us gett told what to sell and what to write.

BOOK AS A COMMODITY?
Books also cross the boundaries into just being a commodity also. People who don't read but have a library might have some element of that having things 'on show' but not really believing it.

MASTODON TRANSLATION API

I think you pay for API.
Not sure if I mentioned it about being free or no, more that the DATA passed through googles would be really BAD...

Here's some more info and quotes under
mastodon.social/@mastohost/109

quoted below:

"...server admins need to get an API key with DeepL or LibreTranslate to enable it and those have limitations/costs. See: deepl.com/pro?cta=header-price and portal.libretranslate.com/)

and @rajuct said:
Will the Apertium engine be available too in the future? Not all languages are on DeepL or LibreTranslate

Eugen said :
That software doesn’t seem to have an API, which means it’s not possible to integrate it.
