It's important to note that Julian is being persecuted for revealing US Army war crime! We wouldn't know of this particular slaughter (on purpose) if it hadn't been leaked!

There is no such thing as a backdoor that only lets the good guys in. Together with Tresorit, @threemaapp and Tutanota, we are calling on EU policy makers to rethink anti-encryption proposals that would introduce backdoors in encryption platforms: protonmail.com/blog/joint-stat

I've already got my ten-year-old a ProtonMail account set up already, as well, for when she actually starts needing one.

"But dad, everyone just uses Gmail, and--"

"NOPE. Oh, and let me see your phone. Wha-...? You still use Hangouts for texting? Oh, honey..."

Without care and consideration from the top all life from that is almost useless and meaningless...

Mastodon users filtered by their country / cities ?

@aral

What do you think about filtering users by their cities / locality in the interface? (much like Geocities had?)
(and having it optional as visibility via checkbox option)

I can see clear uses +/- (and both at the same time)... but also highlights for me ---> "How to defend use-cases when a tool allows both good / bad usage"

So in this case locality-based interface it could be
--> (positive) for sharing and finding people instantly
--> (negative) for ****ing and finding people instantly !!! <---

I think that applies to ANY of our advanced tools!!!!

WOW WHAT A DILEMMA!

I'm unsure how to solve that... Happy to hear on that before anything

“I wanted to write you a shorter letter, but I didn’t have the time.” - a genius quote

I got this quote a few days ago and have say that relates to me well and those that are looking for education / measurement / expression... The quote supports what I think a fair few people can't see as 'normal to write a lot' and perhaps quality too in the balance.
Possibly the normal / standard human condition is that people talk and don't hide it once people get rolling.

The almost insulting expectation other people have is a dumbed down reduction to the extent of not hearing the full story or feeling far far from human for some it seems, although for others a worthy skill - obviously when practised enough ... To write short about things that are usually not clear without exploring too much is a bit of an ask so here's a quote for that...

All I need now is a quote about how to improve one's reading skills like the opposite of TLDR...

like TSANDE
(Too short and not deep enough)

Though to be fair, measuring how deep is also a skill / balance.

And I can read the points through larger text better than shorter text if quality is the same!

SOFTWARE: mp3DirectCut for direct mp3 editing...

mp3DirectCut - a lossless MP3 audio editor and recorder
TINY 313KB!
mpesch3.de

As a token gesture to tools that work very well, still works on old machines, is simple and direct, portable, had to shout this old friend.

Saves hard drive space as no decompression / hardly any loading is needed (unlike Audacity)

It directly edits MP3 as copy/pastes, cuts/crops, gain/fades, change the volume, remove parts, split files, add/copy regions and more...

Again WITHOUT decompressing the audio file or quality loss
(LOAD IN AUDACITY A LARGE 5hr MP3 and wait a good 2mins+ and saving takes ages (so no quick saves...) With this tool loading + editing + saving large audio is almost instant.

Maybe still a bit fiddly with fairly minimal interface but still worth the directness.

Yes it's for and only for show for some people (but it should run on other Linux distributions using a Windows® emulator such as if it's for grandma type editing and DIY home radio shows with fairly minimal Windows on it already.)

Has version perhaps surprisingly.

No decompression / recompression and doesn't even fill up a floppy disk ~313Kb.

Wanted to mention a robust old friend for an app on any older machine lying around or for installing for others not so savvy, even carrying around as a portable basic editor.

Audacity is good too but in this way this less load time for large mp3 and fairly minimal buttons helps.

mp3DirectCut is not a full editor but it's like got a lot of good points. Minimal website too.

An anecdote, attributed to Blaise Pascal, the famous mathematician and physicist, goes like this: In writing an overly long letter to a friend, Pascal ended with this sentence. “I wanted to write you a shorter letter, but I didn’t have the time.”

A sign of good work is one you can visit again and enjoy again...

I was thinking this while re-visiting some of my own pages of learning (freeschool) thinking after I find something great again which came from working on it in the past, often burst-mode working (press the CPU button!) and then closing of that topic very satisfied... and then leaving them there almost alone... only to find how easily I can enjoy them again and even link to them today!

I often thank myself how I managed to centralised the collect things in one place in such detail both for eye-candy or relativity.
"Excellent." I say to myself and even close the page having done the work for me so quickly!

(I would say excellent even if it wasn't my own work)

So while it helps I know what I've written and search myself, still what I have built as a school on my site is as in real life and JUST needs a bit of searching and will-power on your side (your own direction and even faith in me or yourself) and you'll find some things that are like 'WOW that's actually quite good! Thanks!"

This is not an advert - it just is!!!

Ask and I'll give you my best!

Or pick a search word / topic and find something surprising there!

Hard to talk people out of their expectations to use toilet paper... (about climate change talk and real change)

Hard to talk people out of their expectations to use toilet paper...
...just to consider the change using other more ecological ways around it....

Hard to talk people out of their download / upload / 1080p video stream / Megapixel picture sizes....
...just to consider the climate change using other more ecological ways around it....

TIPS AND ANSWER IF YOU'RE WILLING TO TRY CHANGE / SAVE THE WORLD?
Even a combination of these....

1- JUST tear some bit of of magazine or even cut into 10cm lengths… bingo….
WORK with supermarket magazines, newspaper etc

2- Leaves (because sometimes it’s right there staring you in the face and is clean piled on each and could just be lightly sprayed / dipped in water)

3- Cutting t-shirts or old clothes for mini-towels - really re-usable and slightly wet can even be nice

4- Hose-pipe from inside toilet or spray gun from toilet tank + towel just for drying.

5- Scrap paper / printer paper - a luxury!

6- Sponge / something soft

WHATEVER the experiment or test you ave to do just not the diesel-smoking industry-BURNING lightweight toilet transport BEING thermodynamically carried from one side to the other 100's/1000's of km's with a variety of transport!

When meeting a new woman i can hope for one of four outcomes.
1. We dont like eachother at all and go our seperate ways, happy and peaceful forever.
2. We like eachother a little bit and become life long happy friends
3. One of us likes thr othrr alot and its awkward and creepy and painful
4. We both like eachother a lot and have a few months that are thr happiest time one can hope for before one of us dumps the other and its months of misery and pain.

Capitalism seems to ecompass a big group thing but with specific bad tactics over individuals... greed seems more general and a bit more individually orientated or smller in scale as a conscious choice in clusters of individual behaviour...

btw ... I never know with your posts if it's mostly for you or actually you want longer answers (seems can be both or on sliding scale mix - so it's easy to ask short and then say it's too long or ''I didn't mean that' or think someone is being ''xyz''')... but anyway disclaimer aside that was my answer above and this I might have to copy and paste for you posts until I'm a bit sure or learn your ways (if possible)...

Take a moment at the end of each day and list a few good things in your life. This can help refocus your emotions on all the positive things that happen each day, even when it doesn’t seem like it.
