Do you engage less with #mastodon accounts when they use #twitter links?

Please Reboot - as I wish to gauge if my narrow observations, thus far are right.

(I’m this girl)

I have this friend who doesn’t post anything on social media. He just lives his life.

I said, “how am I supposed to know what you’re up to?” he said, “ask me”

What a weirdo.

COVID in China

I caught up on the Osterholm podcast over dinner, and the situation in China sounds terrifying.

Osterholm is the director of Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy (CIDRAP) in Minnesota. I've found him to be a reliable source.

He thinks the R0 right now in China is ~16, approaching that of measles. He said in some places the case numbers are doubling every day.

I deleted the NextDoor app and unsubscribed but that just made it stronger

If you're not part of the solution you don't mix well with the other substances.

I always keep a ruler in my panic room, because desperate times call for desperate measures.

This lighthouse is SO UNIQUE! It's called Þrídrangar, which means "three rock pillars". It is located 4.5 miles (7.2 kilometres) off the southwest coast of Iceland, in the archipelago of Vestmannaeyjar, often described as the most isolated lighthouse in the world. The lighthouse was built there in 1939.

It's such a INCREDIBLE location for a lighthouse, perched on a rock in Iceland's wild surf. Originally constructed and accessible only by scaling the rock on which it is situated, it is now accessible by helicopter since the construction of a helipad.

I’m a millennial, so naturally my new year’s resolution is to eat more avocado toast no matter what the cost.

I'm encountering a lot of posts lately where people are essentially shaming others for asking questions that they deem to be lazy or ignorant. I fucking detest this mentality.

In asking questions, people also opening the door for discussion, and likely hoping for people's input.

It's a golden opportunity to change someone's mind about something, or get them to see your point of view, but I guess being dickish and dismissive is also an option.

It won't last but the Z80 or 68HC11 in me likes following 256 people.

Cloning people who have died

This post about using chatGPT-like technology to make a virtual grandparent you can talk to after they die reminded me of a law-ethics class I took at Stanford in the late '90s.

Scientists had just cloned Dolly the sheep. (My professor was called to the White House for an "emergency ethics meeting," which I still think is super cool.)

My what?

I like telling people that I’ve taken up running, but to be honest it’s less running and more a mobile myocardial infarction.

Hey you laugh but wikiHow is how I survived before I was diagnosed with autism.
