“Someone with a 1-hr car commute needs to earn 40% more to be as happy as someone with a short walk to work. On the other hand, if someone shifts from a long commute to a walk, their happiness increases as much as if they’d fallen in love.” #CityMakingMath

It’s the “Paid for by the Government of Ontario” at the end of the damage control radio ads about the Greenbelt corruption that really bothers me.

If you want to lie to me, that’s one thing. But don’t spend my money to do it. #onpoli

Update: Two of the three people who ought to resign over the Greenbelt controversy have done so, and the lands have not yet been returned. Problem not yet solved. #onpoli cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/ste

@Amy_Hupe when I feel really low and situations big and little really suck sometimes I’m able to take a breath and make next moment a little bit better. One of ways I’ve often done this in the past is helping someone else smile or feel better. The last few years with increased social isolation has made these ephemeral bits of domestic magic harder to come by. Here’s a picture of Saffron I grew last fall … not really practical, just for joy.

#Ocean heat record broken, with grim implications for the planet.

bbc.com/news/science-environme

"The oceans have hit their hottest ever recorded temperature as they soak up warmth from climate change, with dire implications for our planet's health.
The average daily global sea surface temperature beat a 2016 record this week, according to the EU's climate change service Copernicus.
It reached 20.96C (69.73F) - far above the average for this time of year."

The lack of a labour day appointment suggests a larger reorganization is in the works."

dropped on a holiday - Minister of Steve resigns (at long last). Whoever replaces him, I’m hoping they start off implementing the remaining 52/55 recommendations from the Housing Affordability Task Force Report! files.ontario.ca/mmah-housing-

Let's talk #zooplankton nets. Why, on a large ship, do we use a net with very small diameter (0.4 m), but it is long (2 m)? Efficiency! These nets filter better, while not collecting *too much. #Eutrophic systems like #LakeErie clog nets with algae, so less volume is better. We target sizes using different Nitex meshes, most often 63 or 153 μm in the #GreatLakes. To measure volume, we use a flow meter mounted just off-center in the net mouth (know why?). #Science

Please keep doing what you can to #goTowardVegan diet. Thank you. We’re all in it together. 💚🌎✨

Even though l have posted many many web links to the scientific research that details the medical evidence about the harm of inhaling wood smoke & traffic pollution.

Even when l inform adults about that medical evidence.

Even when the clean air alternative technologies are easily accessible.

Even when nobody is forcing them to have BBQs, campfires, etc

The adults choose to pollute the air!
