When we talk about plant stress responses, we often emphasize that "plants are sessile" - that they can't run awat or migrate when the environment is unsuitable.

But people are pretty sessile too; they're dying in Arizona and Italy and Iran and Korea because, with very few exeptions, people can't uproot (money/ borders), and when half the globe is baking or flooding, there's no place to go.
