I've got a lot of things in my #gaming collection, but I'd say this CIB copy of #PhantasyStar (And the two Game Gear titles) are the prize of my collection.

I love the first Phantasy Star. I don't know what it is, but since I first played it, I've been obsessed with it. I've bought at least 6 different copies of the game. Hell! I've been using one of the dungeon themes as my ringtone for my phone for the past 20 years.

Like, I love the series, but that first game... I love that first game.

@DavidRodriguezjr reposted the pic. Reminded me how awesome Stadia was and how much we’ve lost as gamers 😞

Hi, I'm Benj. I've been collecting computers and video games to preserve tech history since 1993

I started vintagecomputing.com in 2005 and began freelancing shorty thereafter for sites like PCWorld, Fast Company, The Atlantic

I introduced a lot of early video game and microcomputer history to the web

I also make music and created a bunch of joysticks. I run a BBS and a MUSH

Right now, I'm Ars Technica's AI and ML reporter, but history's still in my blood #introduction

Is #Twitter doomed?

Here's a Victorian alarm clock which served as a “memento mori,” reminder of death, in the 19th century. It prompted people to think about the shortness of life. This incredible object is now housed at the Science Museum in London.

I see a lot of people talking about how Mastodon "Feels like the Internet I remember from 20 years ago."

That's no accident. That's Federation. That's UseNet, IRC, Email, Message Boards, etc. What do they all have in common?

Federation: Users congregating around watering holes of common interest, but still being a part of a larger whole.

THIS IS HOW THE INTERNET WAS DESIGNED TO BE. And I am HERE for it.

Openly campaigning for any party in any country, I don't care if it is right-wing, centrist, or left-wing. Any party! Should be a no for the head of a supposedly neutral social media network. Why? We've had years of bias accusations for various tech companies and Elon now does this!

Saturday was a BOGO sale at Mrs. 8-Bit favorite 2nd hand bookstore and I found a bash book that will be handy at times along with some various games.
