@gamemistress freaking brilliant game this! I like the Japanese version best, the graphics and animation are slightly different and Ristar and some of the other characters don't look permanently pissed off like they do in the Euro and US versions of the game.
Again, regional changes that puzzle me. Why did they think that people in Europe and the US would relate more to angry characters?

@RoboPack The action we've taken against scalping is to sell only kits, for the most part, not lone boards. People get annoyed with us for that but then they also get annoyed at scalpers so, rock and a hard place.
You're right, we have chosen to send stock to companies which would have to lay people off if they don't get boards, rather than send them to be bought by hobbyists because we thought losing your job is more important than making a cute thing for your house.
Damned if we do...

When posting stats about the number of people (not “users”) joining the fediverse (not “Mastodon”), please also post about the number of instances.
If 400,000,000 people join BigTech.social tomorrow, that’s not a win. That’s how you recreate Twitter.
So let’s focus on what matters. Sure it‘s great that the fediverse is becoming more popular but the character of that popularity matters. How it scales matters. Avoiding corporate capture matters.

European Commissioner Thierry Breton just joined Mastodon!
His first post, published right after a call with Elon Musk, made it clear that there is still huge work ahead for Twitter to comply with EU law:
1. Reinforce content moderation
2. Tackle disinformation
3. Implement transparent policies based on objective criteria (i.e., not via Twitter polls)
4. Limit targeted advertising
5. Prepare for an independent audit

Unpopular opinion: there is something about having your own servers. Maybe it is irrational, but running a #machinelearning experiment for the week on a large cloud server can cost you a thousand dollars. When that fails, it's extremely painful. There is a lot of mental justification to even try. Maybe you pay more upfront for a server, but it changes the psychology. Struggling with nvidia cuda at $40/hr is harrowing. #ai, #ml, #cloudcomputing
