@gael @thenextweb @e_mydata I believe that privacy is a very important factor for European consumers, and that they would appreciate an operating system that is not based on a US platform. It would not be difficult to switch to such an operating system, since it could be compatible with Android and run the same applications. As a European myself, I would be interested in a mobile operating system that focuses on privacy and reflects European values. I would consider changing to it when I upgrade my phone.

@TerryBernstein eeeek ;) they do. I grew slightly allergic to Dell over time though. I go for a Dell if that's what there is, but I'd love to see other more interesting options too.

I find it very hard to choose a laptop for myself! I always eliminate Windows from the options, because I don’t like it at all, but I’m open to Linux, Mac, and ChromeOS. I tend to prefer Linux and ChromeOS, but Apple silicon is also appealing!

Unfortunately, the UK doesn’t have many good Linux and ChromeOS laptops available, which is disappointing because that’s what I usually like. Some of you might suggest buying a Windows laptop and installing Linux on it, which is fine and something I will continue to do at times. But there is something special about buying a laptop that just works from the get-go and comes with an OS pre-installed and a nice and reassuring warranty.

@dosnostalgic we have it good today. Despite the current GPU prices it cannot be denied that hardware and software is affordable today, a Steam Deck, Xbox Series S, phone, or Raspberry Pi are all half decent gaming devices at very little cost.
