@gamingonlinux they design them for 55 inch displays 🤷♂️
I have a 55 inch TV, but I prefer to game on my 22 inch monitor, or my 7 inch Steam Deck. For some consoles my 14 inch CRT!
What could Google have been thinking when it started selling dot-zip top-level domain names. This is such a terrible idea that you have to wonder whether something beyond stupid is involved..
In any case, you should NEVER, EVER click on a URL that ends in .zip.

@vwdasher enjoy 😄
@thelinuxEXP my God! Thanks for this video! As someone who isn’t a Windows user but is having to use a Windows VM temporarily right now for a project and this video struck a chord.
Thank you, thank you!
@ovid 😂😂😂 👍
I haven’t used #Windows as a daily driver in more than 5 years, so when I look at it, it’s with the eyes of someone who is not used to its weird, or, frankly, bad, design. I’ve worked in UX for 10 years, and some decisions Windows made are really sub-par.
And still, the bad user experience of Windows has a negative impact on #Linux desktops. Here is why!
No need to worry. My suggestion is to begin with a straightforward and user-friendly Linux distribution. Once you become comfortable with the command-line interface and other functions, you can switch to a more advanced distribution. Personally, I utilize the Ubuntu LTS desktop as my primary operating system for completing my tasks. As I am occupied with work, I don't have much time to experiment with the latest technologies. However, your experience may differ.
@ben @chuls @liztai I disagree. Culture lasts, and elements of modern-day cultures can be traced back 1000s of years.
Let's take one example, yoga, it dates back to the 4th century BCE. Yoga is considered one of the six orthodox schools of Hindu philosophy, so that is one aspect of Hindu culture that's lasted over 2000s years and is very much still alive today and still culturally important. A direct cultural link to people over 2000 years ago. And there are 1000s of other examples.
It would be very wrong to tell Indian people that yoga wasn't created by their ancestors, that yoga is no more Indian than baseball and they are in fact all invaders and they appropriated yoga. It is honestly a travesty!
@chuls @liztai Many people are outraged by the unfair treatment of a whole culture whose heritage and traditions are being plundered by another. It doesn't matter if they are not part of that culture, we feel empathy for them. This is even more unacceptable when it is done by a powerful business and wealthy celebrities from the most culturally influential country in the world.
This situation is similar to the museums around the world that still possess objects that were taken by force in the past. This is also wrong and angers many people who are not of the culture that was plundered.
A few people believing in Afrocentrism is fine, there are always strange people in this world, and a few of them are harmless. But getting supported by Netflix is wrong as it turns them into a force that could really deceive many into believing lies about Egypt. There would be similar outrage from scientists if Netflix created a flat earth documentary and marketed it heavily as the new truth.
I thought this series is a really good explanation on why Egyptions are mad about the #Netflix Cleopatra documentary.

@darth I'm old.
@darth same applies to cars. I don't miss carburettors.
@vwdasher Haflingers are super cool BTW! And I'd love to have one in Australia where there are so many remote places to explore with it :D
@vwdasher I've noticed Australia is super tightly regulated when it comes to cars. Even compared to most European countries.
This is my fun social media account, I will post a lot of video game stuff (mostly old or cloud gaming) and some work stuff.
If I post an image with no Alt text it is because the image is just there for decoration and doesn't provide any extra meaning to the toot.
