Bluesky’s having a bit of a moderation crisis, which got me thinking about the ways in which the major Twitter clones approach moderation:

#Bluesky has libertarian “free speech at all costs”.
#Threads has puritan neoliberal top-down moderation.
#Twitter (Musk era) has Nazis-to-the-front anti-moderation.
#Mastodon has community moderation, a server covenant, and vote-with-your-feet accountability.

The first three are run by tech-bro billionaires. The latter is not. And it shows.

reddit is just privatized usenet. slack is just privatized irc. streaming is just privatized piracy. social media is just privatized blogging

@fatherroderick even VPN? How are they doing that? Just blocking everyone on a VPN?

Last October I preordered the ClockworkPI uConsole...

Well I just had the notification from FedEx, it should arrive on Tuesday 😂

So hopefully I'll finally have a portable 4G capable #raspberryPi - it'll only been 9 months since I ordered it to getting it

Elon Musk notoriously steals content and passes it off as his own. He even justified stealing other people's content to me directly in a response to a story I wrote about this topic for the NYT just 2 years ago nytimes.com/2021/05/07/style/e

Apple’s anti-remote policy allows them to legally discriminate against both disabled and older applicants.

- many disabled people are fully qualified to do a job, yet can’t be in an office environment.
- older applicants often have established families that are impossible to relocate. Owned housing. Spouses/partners with established careers.

Being remote doesn’t disqualify you from being able to do many Apple jobs. I was fully remote for 12 years at Apple. Pre-webex. It was never an issue

Bad taste joke

@trinsec you don't wanna know!!!! I don't normally make jokes like this, but I made an exception for them.

@emanuel The Vectrex and that big Trinitron 👌 !!!

Nice collection.

The old computer desk is getting ever more busy. After some restoration work this weekend, I hope I can get the last ones working again. #retrocomputing

Bad taste joke

People make fun of the Island Boys, but I'm reliably told they have an IQ of 130!

Each of them has an IQ of 65.
