Another design consideration re: Mastodon is that it works well for ephemeral asynchronous communications, but for many reasons should not be counted on as an archival resource. Media attachments are periodically purged and may not be available after a week, or a month, etc. While some servers may try to preserve content forever, this may be costly and unsustainable. Creators, researchers should treat this as an ephemeral resource and make provisions for self-archiving anything important.
I bought these two games recently and I fully expected to love Sonic and be kind of unsure of Bayonetta. The opposite ended up being true, LOVE Bayonetta and I’m still unsure that Sonic’s open world is fun. #gaming

Anyone who wants to listen to @aurynn talking to RNZ about Mastodon can find it here:
The thing about Twitter is that it really lacks a lot of the features you'd expect from a true Mastodon replacement.
For example, there's no way to edit your toots (which they, confusingly call "tweets"—let's face it, it's a bit of a silly name that's difficult to take seriously).
"Tweets" can't be covered by a content warning. There's no way to let the poster know you like their tweet without also sharing it, and no bookmark feature.
There's no way to set up your own instance, and you're basically stuck on a single instance of Twitter. That means there's no community moderators you can reach out to to quickly resolve issues. Also, you can't de-federate instances with a lot of problematic content.
It also doesn't Integrate with other fediverse platforms, and I couldn't find the option to turn the ads off.
Really, Twitter has made a good start, but it will need to add a lot of additional features before it gets to the point where it becomes a true Mastodon replacement for most users.
@ajsadauskas I feel very much the same about Windows and Linux. Sure Windows has improved a lot with WSL, but it still isn’t a replacement for Linux. At its core it is still bloated and insecure, why use Windows with WSL when you can just use Linux?
This is a very good point. Large/notable organizations should definitely run their own instances, and the instance being literally hosted on their domain is better than any blue check ever will be.
@herid I love this song.

@Lazarou that’s spot on. Let this be so and not just in Twitter, every question posed by Elon Musk anywhere.
FastDoom continues to not only improve the performance of the game, but also adding support for all kinds of video and sound devices.
Digitized audio on a PC speaker or AdLib? Sure. DOOM on EGA or CGA? Of course. DOOM in text mode? Sure.

@gpowerf The Bayonetta games are perfectly campy and over the top. I love em!
This is my fun social media account, I will post a lot of video game stuff (mostly old or cloud gaming) and some work stuff.
If I post an image with no Alt text it is because the image is just there for decoration and doesn't provide any extra meaning to the toot.
