@ryankage Honestly, it also makes me want to move away from Fedora. I love that distro, but serving as a beta tester for Red Hat to make a restricted product doesn’t sit right with me.

@thelinuxEXP I guess that the Free Software Foundation carries so little weight nowadays that there's nothing they could do or say that will even be heard by anyone.

@thelinuxEXP I agree, crushing downstreams is bad and totally against what Open Source is supposed to be.

Maybe I am too mean, but I do hope that this is the end of RHEL. Nobody thought OpenOffice would or could die, but it did.

After considering both positions, I made up my mind on the Red Hat situation. While they are probably allowed to do what they’re doing right now, I still feel that not only is it unethical, but it also will harm the entire Linux ecosystem when their business drops in response to their last move, first among hobbyists, and then at the companies these work for.

Here are my thoughts, in a more informal video than usual:

@mike This approach is generally unpopular. ChromeOS is an example of how it evolved from an online-only OS to a full-fledged OS that retains the original lightweight OS but also supports Linux and Android containers that enable the use of common Linux applications and it pretty much ends up feeling like a Linux distro that happens to also run Android apps.

@nivrig C64 scene is aline and well :) NES too to a certain extent. :D

Some older systems never die.

TheGebs24 with some great new #Amiga games to look forward to, and also Rogue Declan Zero for some reason ⚔️

Debian:

It's so stable, it's boring.

The only surprises you'll get is the lack thereof.

After a full month with my #Steam OS console, I can safely say that it's the best gaming experience I've ever had: start a game on the TV and pick it up later on the #SteamDeck, amazing performance + all the commodities of Steam OS!

And yet, I'd say it's not worth it for most people to build something like this, compared to a #Playstation5 for example.

So, let's see what I picked, the issues I encountered, and the general experience!
