This is my fun social media account, I will post a lot of video game stuff (mostly old or cloud gaming) and some work stuff.
If I post an image with no Alt text it is because the image is just there for decoration and doesn't provide any extra meaning to the toot.

Back to Mastodon after the previous server I was on shutdown. I am studying natural language processing currently at the University of Bonn in Germany. I've been adding all sorts of academics on Mastodon from https://github.com/nathanlesage/academics-on-mastodon and am interested to expand my academic circles, especially as our work has been heading in more interdisciplinary directions. #UniBonn #NLP #AI #McMaster
@nixCraft yes, I made a typo... And it stays. :)
I don’t know what possessed me, but I bought this cheesy thing! Anyway, now my truck’s gear shifter is wearing a hoody!!! #WeirdCarMastodon
@Dodges My first computer experience was a ZX81, followed by an IBM PC closely after.

We may see a Steam Deck refresh with WiFi 6E https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2023/10/we-may-see-a-steam-deck-refresh-with-wifi-6e/

I've always been fascinated by the Parakeets in Greenwich Park, London. #Photography
@trinsec I'm more than happy to wait, my current Chromebook is still supported it is still very much usable and the longer we wait the better things will get. Steam on ChromeOS is Beta, and I have no doubt that eventually there will be Chromebooks with GPUs that make Steam gaming truly viable on ChromeOS.
The longer I wait the better the replacement :)
@JJFlash the server I am on is very friendly and nice, but not up to date and I've considered migrating. I was just wondering what your experience was, thanks :)
@JJFlash c64.chat seems like a very niche server for 2023. :) I've never migrated Mastodon server, how do they go? Lose most of your followers?

Just completed another Mastodon migration, this time from the https://c64.chat instance, which is very sadly going to disappear on December 1st.
Since my previous account is going away, I guess an #introduction is in order.
I live in Rome, Italy (I'm from Naples, though), I'm in my early fifties, and in the last year and a half I started to finally understand more stuff about the #Commodore64 , mainly thanks to the #XCBASIC cross compiler (if you're curious: https://xc-basic.net/ ).
I still have to learn plenty more, but in the meantime I had the audacity to put a couple of little #C64 games on https://jjflash.itch.io
I'm quite sad that c64.chat is going to shut down, I also hope to feel at home here just like I did there :)

this is quite possibly the funniest preview of a news story Mastodon has ever generated
@trinsec it's £400 here, which is a bit less than I paid a few years ago for my 714.
@trinsec you are being robbed, starting price should be $399.99.
@trinsec sure :) but the free Stadia trial is what got me addicted to Stadia :)
Two very affordable #Acer #ChromebookPlus laptops :)
I'm a big fan of my older Acer 714 Core i3 :) These are very similar laptops. #chromeos
