Dr. Guillermo Power @gpowerf@social.cleverlibre.org

stepped away for a second and now my cat’s a pro gamer

A bit more done - some of it isn’t as neat as I’d like, but should be sound still

Several people that I talked to in the last few days about the #Twittermigration including @cfiesler mentioned @doctorow's point about how social media companies essentially hold us hostage through our social networks:
"The problem with social media is that they used our presence as bait to lure in our friends and vice-versa and now they won’t let us go without extracting as high a price as possible for our disloyalty." (Read his great piece here: https://doctorow.medium.com/how-to-leave-dying-social-media-platforms-9fc550fe5abf).

The amount of misinformation being spread this evening about the US elections on Twitter is astounding.

It shows how important it is to offer solutions for decentralization in regards to moderation. #ElectionDay

What I am appreciating here on #Mastodon is, not only welcoming old friends, but following new ones. Long standing Mastodonians with interesting minds and lives. The cooperative model is brilliant. I have spent part of my academic career studying co-ownership and mutuality. #Mastodon is an exemplar of the #NewEconomy. Finally, it is just refreshing to show a little more of oneself. To share hobbies & interests beyond the political struggle.

Are there any tags that the retro gaming community are using for Mastodon? Trying to bulk up the ol' follow list to fill my feeds up with lovely pixels on crts and pick-up posts - make it feel even more like home.

#stephenfry Poor admins!

It’s good to see some familiar faces on Mastodon, starting to feel more like home.

#StephenFry has deleted his #twitter account and left his 12.5m followers behind. He's moved to mastodonapp.uk where I expect the admins were hoping for some respite from the twitter influx...hopefully he mentioned it to someone there first. 🤔

Check out these pillows!! 😂

If you're a recent convert or considering opening an account at Mastodon, my username over there is @LordArse. Come on over, it's actually a really nice place to play once you get used to it. Did I mention that there was cake?

I have never seen such a concentration of kind, interesting people, cool things to learn about, and dopamine supply in my life. Y'all are fabulous. #mastodon

Let's hope this move from Twitter to the Fediverse make people think about the apps they use and how these apps exploit them as users and how these apps violate their privacy? #fedi #askfedi #apps #privacy

Did I not just toot about 17K followers?! Hello 19K!? 🤘😱👏
