Remember when almost everyone had a Gateway (or formerly Gateway 2000) computer? For a short few years Gateway was it.

I laughed way too hard at this one, had to share...

I found my wife's secret peanut butter stash! I hit gold!!!!!!

Ha, neat. The Dutch government has their own Mastodon instance now.

After the Twitter debacle where you couldn't see posts without being logged in for a while, and it coincidenced with a storm with many emergency messages pointing to Twitter, they decided to take this step. :D

They're still prepping up everything, but it should be here:
social.overheid.nl/explore

So it’s:
- Mastodon / Fediverse for chatter & friendly folk but not necessarily people you know IRL

- Threads for following / complaining to brands or companies

- BlueSky for celebs and a few more people you know IRL

- Twitter for reading the holdouts but not engaging because everyone there is SO ANGRY

That about it for the state of microblogging..?

I'm constantly amazed that so many people have so much time and energy to spend maintaining social media accounts on so many platforms. Not a judgement, just a personal observation. Because I've been asked a lot: I'm unlikely to join Bluesky or Threads or any of the newfangled Birdsite or MetaFaceGram clones.

For me, it's less about whether these platforms are useful or benign or hostile or worthy than it is about maintaining boundaries and limits on my overall social media use and consumption. And I'm okay w/ the trade-offs of potentially limiting my reach if it ultimately means I have both more free time and more balance/sanity in my life.

I guess Ill reintroduce myself: Hello, S.R. Weaver here.

Im am an Ruby developer, Author, Poet, and Composer. I tried doing game design with RPG Maker VX but could never finish a game.

Ive written seven novels, one poetry collection, and some poetry.

Ive recently gotten back into music #composing, and aspire to play like Claude Debussy and Nobuo Uematsu.

Look forward to meeting people.

People are laughing at Twitter being down once again, but you try running a website with one hand and measuring your penis with the other.

Dear The Guardian. The Amiga 500 is not a "Console" 🤣
