Mathematics can raise concerns with a proposed physical theory by pointing out that it leads to discontinuities. According to popular belief, Galileo debunked Aristotle's thesis that heavier objects fall faster than light ones by an actual experiment, but in fact he proposed a continuity argument: if Aristotle was correct, connecting two equal falling masses by a string of negligible weight would double the mass of the object and thus cause it to fall much faster, which was absurd. The hellscape that Bakhmut’s become after months of relentless Russian attacks is shocking & heartbreaking. Families lived here; my friends in the last block. Colored building is “Smile” kindergarten no. 40. Locals call the area район літака, or plane district, W entrance of city

So many of you cared enough to migrate from Twitter to Mastodon.

Now I'm going to encourage you to go further:

1. Migrate from Instagram to Pixelfed
2. Migrate from WhatsApp to The Matrix.
3. Migrate from Facebook to Friendica

Do to Mark Zuckerberg what you already did to Elon Musk.

As somebody who's avoided COVID-19 for three years it's kind of depressing to think how easy it would have been for the government to get to COVID zero.

N95s for everyone and mask mandates. An actual vaccination campaign. Strict air quality rules, and a handful of targeted capacity limits where needed.

We would be fine. We'd have a society. Our hospitals would be functional. People wouldn't be dead.

It would be cheaper.

I think it’s important to repeat: you don't "have something to hide" when you put blinds on your windows or close the door when you're on the can or wear clothes.

Privacy isn't about having something to hide. It's not about keeping secrets. It's about you being the person who chooses what you reveal about yourself, and when, and to who, and the other word we have for that is "dignity". Your inherent dignity, as a human being.

Your privacy is the agency you have over your dignity.

Why the heck are we trying to peer pressure people into stopping precautions for a disease that is a top 3 killer in the US?

It’s horrible the media is more focused on trying to frame people who are masking as “hold outs”instead of investigating why political leaders prematurely dropped protections to serve corporate interests when polls show the majority still support mask mandates.

https://t.me/pilotblog/1966 ⚠️🇮🇳 In India, the deputy of the Vladimir region Pavel Antov was found dead in the pool. Antov was the richest civil servant according to Forbes in 2019. A few days before Pavel's death, the deputy's companion died in the same hotel. The Consulate General of the Russian Federation does not see a connection between the two deaths. #Ukraine #News #War #Russia

Hey friends, I'm in solo isolation. I'm also a freelancer & there's no rest for the wicked so this weekend I'm working just like any other.

If you're having a tough time in the holidays and my soothing voice would help, I will happily give you one of my audiobooks of your choice, no questions, no strings. Just tell me which title you'd like & if you need a US or UK code.

💥Increasingly clear the #Ontario #Conservative govt has a full-scale mandate in place to change Public to Private.
#Privatize and #monetize as many services as possible & do it as quickly as possible before Ontarians notice.
Private is more expensive than Public because it allows for profit. That profit will be determined by how much Ontarians are willing to pay from their own pocket.

Some inconvenient facts about immigrants that MAGAs hope you ignore:

•Seeking asylum is a legal & human RIGHT, protected by the US Constitution and the UN Convention on Refugees (to which the USA is a signatory)

•Both documented AND undocumented immigrants have LOWER crime rates than US Citizens (and usually higher vaccination rates too)

•Undocumented immigrants pay MORE in taxes ($12B annually) than Trump ever has or will (and get none of the tax benefits)

RT if you learned something new!
