@baoigheallain @KimSJ I'm sure Sir Keir can make Brexit work.
Two Brexit bombshells in one evening...
1. Likely shortages in Britain after the EU begins coordinated bulk-buying of pharmaceuticals.
2. Free trade negotiations with Canada collapse over cheese and cars.
I can’t imagine a shot that more perfectly captures the sheer spontaneous joy of childhood than this one by Massachusetts photographer William Van Beckum entitled “Favourite Puddle”.
In the last few hundred million years, the Moon has shrunk by about 50 meters. That doesn't sound like much, but it's enough for moonquakes to cause landslides on steep slopes across the lunar surface. When astronauts return to the Moon as part of the Artemis III mission, they'll need to land in regions where they aren't at risk of a landslide. A new paper maps out a series of faults near the Moon's south pole and identifies regions at higher risk for astronauts.

Italian mathematician, physicist & astronomer Joseph-Louis Lagrange was born #OTD in 1736.
Because of his significant contributions in such areas as the calculus of variations, celestial mechanics (including the 3-body problem), & the propagation of sound, he soon established a reputation as one of the greatest mathematicians in Europe. In 1766 Lagrange succeeded his academic adviser, Leonhard Euler, as director of mathematics at the Berlin Academy, where he would stay for the next 2 decades.
I've appreciated Burns' work well enough since moving to Scotland a couple of decades ago, I guess, but I still always feel like I'm not quite literary enough when Burns Night rolls around.
This Burns-related piece by Emeka Ogboh a few years ago utterly floored me, though. The layers of hope and sadness, politics and language... I found it really moving in person, and even the video about it still gets right to me.

Boris Johnson may be a "fucking clown", but what grieves me most is the thought of how many are prepared to vote for same, whether in Brexitania or abroad.

To feed the titled knave, man;
And a' the comfort we're to get,
Is that ayont the grave, man."

Happy #BurnsNight.
I took this photo, of the Robert Burns statue in Leith, some years ago.
I still love the contemporary feel that the additional guerrilla knitted leg warmers give this monument.
Not sure if he approved of them though.
Such a gorgeous fox! Apparently, she loves to pose for shots, right? Photos by Michelle Hanson #Alaska #AlaskaWildlife #RedFox

Russia’s Education and Science Ministry has fired Alexander Kudryavtsev, director of the Russian Academy of Sciences’ Vavilov Institute of General Genetics. At a conference last year, he said that genetic diseases could be explained by sin.

The US Embassy in Brexitania weighs in on Teagate...
"We want to ensure the good people of the UK that the unthinkable notion of adding salt to Britain’s national drink is not official United States policy. And never will be.”
"The U.S. Embassy will continue to make tea in the proper way — by microwaving it.”
