At winter solstice, the shortest day of the year in the northern hemisphere, the sun shines down this 5,000 year old passage and hits the back wall. The Neolithic chambered mound lies about 500m off the Brittany coast, on the small island of Gavr'inis.

These beautifully carved stone slabs support a 17-tonne stone slab acting as the roof of the tomb. At the time of its construction, c. 3500 B.C., the island was still connected with the mainland, and is today only accessible by boat.

The Journal have been doing some actual journalism about transphobe's claims of late, debunking obvious nonsense. This is basic stuff, but in the current climate of journalism on trans issues, this is actually exceptional.

This woman is a hero.

"Nearly 3 years ago, a young professional in the nation's capital was sitting in her apartment after the #Jan6 attack and saw that the FBI was looking for help identifying the #rioters who stormed the #Capitol. So she opened the Bumble dating app, changed her political beliefs to conservative and got to swiping.

"Her strategy was to say, 'Wow, crazy, tell me more,' on repeat until guys gave her enough to send their information to the FBI."

This scares the hell out of me. Not only are they going to use our photos for a purpose we never consented to, but I would expect the misidentification rate for Black people to be far higher than whatever is claimed. As someone who has been stopped by the police before due to a ridiculous case of mistaken identity, I can only imagine trying to talk them out of an arrest when they say "computer says this is you".

And here we have a Brexit benefit - allowing the UK state to override personal privacy with no need for a warrant or court order. This was considered by the EU, but dropped as disproportionate.

Thomas Graham Scottish Chemist was born #OTD in 1805.

He is known for his pioneering work in dialysis, diffusion of gases and colloid chemistry. In applied areas, he also made fundamental discoveries related to dialysis. Graham's study of colloids resulted in his ability to separate colloids and crystalloids using a so-called "dialyzer", using technology that is a rudimentary forerunner of technology in modern kidney dialysis machines. via @wikipedia
