American writer, poet, author, editor, and literary critic Edgar Allan Poe was born #OTD in 1809. Poe was one of the country's earliest practitioners of the short story, & is considered the inventor of the detective fiction genre, as well as a significant contributor to the emerging genre of science fiction. For the second time in as many weeks, a poll has shown support for the monarchy to be below 50%.
Scotland can be a modern, democratic republic with an elected and accountable head of state.
I suspect that it won't be long before 30p Lee Anderson is pushing shopping trolleys around the car park at his local Tesco. And that will be tragic, given his enormous entertainment value.

It's weird how white nationalists use 'Roman and Greek culture' as a way to support their racism.
I started as a kid being absolutely fascinated by Roman and Greek culture but the more I learned the more I understood it was part of a wider eastern Mediterranean culture that wasn't limited to 'white Europe' at all. https://neuromatch.social/@jonny/111773857278882617
