Hello new followers. I am a Psychology professor. I study voice production and perception. I also wrote and maintain VoiceLab software for automatic reproducible voice analysis: github.com/Voice-Lab/VoiceLab
I'm a #Python enthusiast. Fair warning... I can get political and also shit post a lot. I try not to get into arguments online, but often fail.

@BlackAzizAnansi I don't resonate well here because there is an overload of academic and tech geekery, combined with a certain type of know it all ism and condescension.

CounterSocial is LIVE and lively, with a great black hashtag community. Tribel is small, but laid back.

We all must admit that Twitter was so much loved because of the broad spectrum of interests and expertise. Countersocial isn't the vibe.

There really should be a bigger presence of Black users in Mastodon than there currently is and I think that folks really should reflect on why Mastodon remains an overwhelmingly white space.

The entire reason I grabbed my sketching bag before the ER visit was because I recently read Mike Daikubara's Sketch Now, Think Later book. In the book, he stresses that you should always have your sketching supplies with you.

Doing a little sketching made the time between doctor and nurse visits less stressful. I was thankful to have it.

I will note that my wife was there as well. I don't know how to sketch people so I left her out, but she was at my kid's side. There wasn't room for me.

Kestrel.

One of my favourite locations for wildlife photography in England, is the Cotswolds.

On this day, I was looking for owls and hares, when this male kestrel caught my eye, perched on the top of a small tree beside the road.

Just as I lined the camera up, he took flight, and I captured that moment, with his wings in rather an angelic shape.
