This may interest @trib and other #woodworking / 21th century renaissance types. My bedside reading these days is this awesome québécois popular woodworking intro book published in 1950 that belonged to my grandad, then passed on to my dad and now to me. A very satisfying and useful read: The zombie apocalypse may come... I ll rebuild with my dear handtools and this great little book.
A #CuttingBoard I made from Padauk, Purpleheart, Walnut, Honduran Mahogany, and Hard Maple. I tend to make cutting boards in small batches which is why my #workbench is adorned with several different in progress pieces.
If anyone is a fan of fine #woodworking and epic projects (like restoring a gorgeous 100 yo gaff cutter), I commend to you this tale, a cinema-graphic master class with plenty of drama and laughter, a fine cast of characters (coalescing around a good bloke called #Leo & the Tally Ho), & a cracking soundtrack: https://invidious.snopyta.org/channel/UCg-_lYeV8hBnDSay7nmphUA/videos This epi is a couple years in. If you want to start at the beginning: https://invidious.snopyta.org/watch?v=4FhTu3aGM60 It only took me the first couple episodes and I was hooked.
Starting the morning in the hospital today, doing some post it note reverse teaching. Each student needs to write one clinical pearl that he (both dudes today) learned from the morning whilst seeing or reading about his patient. Needs to fit on a post it. Let’s see if I can learn something new. Or at least encourage some learning in bite sized pieces.

For me, the only reason I was on Twitter was #MedTwitter. So I googled "Med Mastodon" and found my server/people/instance 😀 #MedMastodon
This kinda feels like we all ran away from home and found a fun party. #MedMastodon
Hi #MedMastodon. I'm an Assistant Professor and Canada Research Chair in emerging viruses at the University of Manitoba. My lab studies the circulation, transmission, and pathogenesis of emerging zoonotic viruses. We focus primarily on Ebola virus, monkeypox virus, and SARS-CoV-2. Currently overwhelmed with a new international #monkeypox program but will try to keep up to date around these parts
Evening #MedMastodon
Some updates: As we pass 2,000 #MedMastodon members, our community is on track to double in size again - for the 3rd day in a row! Excited to see so many familiar faces!
So far the servers seem to be tolerating the load without breaking...too much.🤞
To celebrate, I've also made more custom emojis:

Hey, #MedMastodon 👋🏽 I’m a pulmonary and critical care doc at Mass General in Boston. I research mechanisms of pulmonary vascular #thrombosis and pulmonary vascular dysfunction in #ARDS. I also study acute and chronic pulmonary complications of #COVID and co-direct our Pulmonary post-COVID clinic. I mostly post about science and medicine, but I’ve been known to repurpose memes about prestige TV to highlight the absurdity of our times. Look forward to seeing how this community grows!

I am a lecturer in #Psychology at #UniveristyOfGlasgow on the #LearningAndTeaching strand.
I lecture in #statistics and #ResearchMethods, focussing on helping students realise they don’t have to love it but they can do it!
I work in #AssessmentAndFeedback, hoping to make staff and students engage more with the process. #SoTL
I love teaching with #OpenScience & teaching #DataSkills to all, like our #PsyTeachR materials.
And I sometimes do studies on #VoicePerception, #Hello 👋
