@steelman @hikenwoodwork Fine tooth thin kerf paneling blade on a table saw.

@hikenwoodwork too thin. the groove needs to be 1.5 mm to accommodate the supporting angle.

The estate at sunset…

The Hobos estate consists of a varied landscape of forests, meadows, orchards, ponds, wooded edges and an old complex of buildings with a vegetable garden and park elements. The estate still forms an exceptionally intact and structural whole today. It has not undergone any major changes in the past century.

It is located in Lindel-Hoeven, Pelt, Limburg, Belgium

@JonathanMBR - Two of the most interesting points about Lake Turkana:

1) It has varying salinity. fresh water in the north (fed by the Omo river), but brackish in the south (no outlet)

2) ~80% of all prehistoric humanid fossils in the world have been found within 10km of the lake, which is why the Turkana Basin Institute is there. A little known Kenyan gem.

Saw this cool house on sale that would allow me to open up a dream coffee shop, roasters and live near the park and my college so am now playing the lottery

#daydreaming

I need to make a 1.5 × 16 × 240 mm grooves in the endgrain. I've made the first batch (8) of the with a small hand saw (a cross-cut one to make things harder). It worked but it was neither physically nor technically easy. Now I need to make 24. Any ideas, how not to spend a whole week cutting nothing more than grooves? #woodworking

@HikerFromVA @BigDogBo LA Aroma D Cuba, Pasion. By the Garcia's, of course, Nicaraguan Puro. I think I'm gonna order everything I can in these Toro box pressed, and v-cut them. Amazing experience.

Hello everyone!
My name is Oliver Beck. I'm here mainly to report on the current activity of the Mt Etna volcano. I was infected by the volcano virus as an 11-year-old boy when I visited Etna in the summer of 1979 and was able to observe explosive activity directly at the summit craters. In 2002 I returned to the mountain and in 2004 I started to report regularly about Mt Etna in German language on my website. Since then I have climbed the volcano many times and experienced several .
Of course I am also interested in other volcanoes (LaPalma, Stromboli, Turrialba and many more) and volcanology in general. I love stones and minerals and their chemistry. So I hope to learn more here as well. I live in Hesse (Germany) on the edge of the Vogelsberg. This is the largest extinct volcanic area in Europe. I love nature and hiking. I like to visit abandoned quarries, which reveal a lot about the former activity of the Vogelsberg. So I will also report about my backyard geology here from time to time.
I work as a laboratory assistant at a large pharmaceutical company, where I deal with instrumental analysis (GC, HPLC). My focus is not only on chemistry, but also on Chromatography Data System support and software development. Besides volcanology, programming is another of my great passions. At the moment I work a lot with C#, VBA and SQL. It all started with a Commodore 64, where after BASIC I soon switched to Assembler and then to Pascal. Later I worked a lot with Perl, C++, Java and Javascript.
Other interests of mine are my garden, cooking and my Sphinx cats.

The extra labor one has to do as a Black person IS the problem.

Having to move to an instance where people understand by default IS the issue.

White people don’t have to find an instance where it’s okay to talk about their daily lives of being white.

Just realized I can’t find my own unlisted posts! So #DisabledBlackTalk will have to do until I find a solution…

Apparently I’m supposed to post an #introduction so here we go - I’m Kate, an ex-pat Kiwi living in the UK since 1990 and a behavioural neuroscientist studying the neural basis of cognitive mapping. PhD with Richard Morris and postdoc with John O’Keefe, then own lab at UCL psychology in the IBN (Institute of Behavioural Neuroscience) for many years. Recently became Head of School, Psychology and Neuroscience at Glasgow. Married to Dr Axona, have 3 daughters and a grumpy cat.

@mekkaokereke A large part of the problem that some white people have is that they do not see themselves as overtly racist. The imagine that racism is attending Klan rallies. Actively hating people. They don't see or understand the systems they take part in that result in systemic racism.
Innuendo Studio recently released an excellent video that details this very issue. Well worth the view.

Excited to see #MedMastodon expand! I'll add to my previous #introduction by expanding a little more on my medical interests 😊

My background is in #Medicine (Ulm (Germany) and Amsterdam (Netherlands)) and #BiomedicalSciences (Amsterdam).

Currently I am halfway through my MD/PhD degree, so an aspiring #DoubleDoc '25. Still working out how to combine specialty training with a postdoc, which specialty to go into ( #hematology vs #psychiatry , adult vs #peds) and whether to move countries for it.

@timnitGebru Ugh.

(asking myself rhetorically) Is there any way to coordinate a massive anti-racism/pro-accomplice training for moderators? How can we make this platform a place of real equity?

"As a river flows, the people along the river who have an intimate relationship with it value it much more than anyone else. These are the people most vulnerable but no one addresses their issues."

Excellent interview with Kunal Sharma about the 'Rivers of Life' initiative in Bengaluru, India - in which stories, art and music about #rivers aim to raise awareness of their intrinsic value, importance to people and environmental plight.
