Every time there are initiatives to increase women and racial diversity in higher positions it’s seen as “biased” and “not recruiting the best”. Don’t they really see that they’re basically defending that a high percentage of white, cis male are better than the rest and insinuating that if there’s low diversity is because others aren’t as good as they are?

I decided to have a look at the Nostr protocol out of curiosity and the only thing I found there was a lot of Cryptobro servers and users. I logged in via Coracle.social and that looked like hell. Is that really what’s trying to replace activityPub? Not for me, thanks.

@jamesvasile that indeed sounds great! It would be a great way to remove all online trash without limiting yourself to look for your search into individual sites. Even more, imagine being able to create several personalized search queries: you want to buy stuff? Unblock shopping sites. Looking for news about the latest events? Search only within news sites and block all social to avoid noise.
I’d love something like that.

@trinsec thanks! Still infer the effects but I feel better today. It was very nasty yesterday, but it seems like it was just a quick visit from the common cold. An angry one, but nothing my immune system couldn’t take care of.

@anand @pluralistic the same happened to me and had to log in and transfer the money to my account. It was definitely not something easy that any person could do. I can see non-techie people struggling to find the way to do it, as I had to read it online, register on a site with a 2-factor, then link to my bank account and transfer. I wonder how many people couldn’t take all the money from their return. I’m sure it’s like this on purpose.

Giving your best is different each day. Sometimes giving your best means taking a day off to fight a cold and recover. Hopefully I feel better tomorrow. 💪

@trinsec the magic of reading is exactly that. You can stop, slow down if you need or rush through a less interesting passage. None of that is available when someone sets the reading pace for you.
As you say, it is exactly as with movies. It works great with fiction, as it is more immersive, but also if you feel tired and need more time to process the information there’s no way to slow down the pace except pausing every now and then or going back 15/30 seconds.

Opened a bottle of 2013 Cab today. Rutherford has some of the best wines in the US, and Inglenook never disappoints. 🍷

When consuming books 📚 I always go through the book vs audiobook dilemma. I love the audio format, but I feel like I miss the chance to stop, reread a passage or highlight. I have the impression that audiobooks help me consume content while driving but it is more “superficial”.
