After yesterday's #Covid19UK figures, today's don't look quite as good. However, the reason for the lower figure yesterday was explained in a Tweet by https://twitter.com/KateEMcCann, and with that knowledge these figures still are not bad. We are well below the Italy line, and the last 9 days form more of a straight line than an exponential. That's a VERY GOOD THING, as it means it's not growing out of control.

Don't believe the myth that we must sacrifice lives to save the economy
We knew this was going to be bad. Most of us didn't need to be told. We'd seen the way Italy was going, how China had gone, and probably most of us didn't trust our government to handle it properly. So we acted anyway. 18 days ago feels about right to me as the time most of us started to be particularly careful.
Has that saved us? Time will tell. 2/2
First, when I referred to a "category error" I had in mind the philosopher Gilbert Ryle who actually used the term "category mistake".
Capitalism, for me, isn't just about free markets (a necessary condition) but also includes the practice of credit creation (through the charging of interest) as well as private and non-state corporate enterprise and ownership.

The Ultimate Covid-19 Video?
Umm. I think there may be a 'category error' thing going on here!
@AngharadHafod Well spotted. Me? I use DuckDuckGo as the default. In fact I'm transitioning from Windows to Linux Mint as well!
Difficult times so a simple answer on this occasion. Bartering and free markets (which I fully support) don't equate to capitalism. Many other factors are in the frame e.g. (to use traditional language) usury!
"capitalism is the default even among animals."
Any evidence? Chapter and verse for this statement? Me? I hate fundamentalism in all its forms...

Everything in Its Right Place
I think in many senses capitalism is indeed currently the default state, but it wasn't in the past and probably won't be in the future!
@peterdrake No such thing as late stage capitalism, capitalism doesnt have stages, it is the default state
