Last night I witnessed a miracle of nature: a Monarch caterpillar transforming into a chrysalis. The most astonishing feat during this process was when the creature attached a little black rod { cremaster } to the foundation of silk which it has previously laid securely on the branch of Swan Plant, on which it had been feeding, just before shedding the last of its former skin.
I have photos and videos of this but need time to process them. Here's a sample of them.

One of the more interesting comments I read yesterday.
Pinkie123 (Comment in The Guardian 4th April 2020) re Covid-19
"The politics of Covid-19 are fascinatingly all over the shop. Victor Orban, Geert Wilders and Thierry Baudet have called for a total lockdown along with much of the established left. Conversely, a Foucauldian Marxist skeptical of state biopower may find himself allied with a gun-toting militiaman in Iowa. People are trying to frame the debate in right/left categories when it cuts across those on multiple levels.
"All I do know is that I'm uncomfortable with this "You're not a scientist! Shut up and do as your told" shoutdown of any criticism of government policy. Not only because the science is far from agreed amongst scientists themselves, but because the presupposition that science is not as susceptible to distortion and corruption as any other form of knowledge is rather dangerous. Plainly this is not true. Or rather, the problem is not science as such but the way science is politically and institutionally effectuated. This is Foucault's position I think. Knowledge is power. He's not saying there isn't verifiable knowledge, just that it can never be separated from power.
"I'm looking at this from a biopolitical perspective, asking how the powerful may reorganise the state around the concept of the citizen as walking biohazard - and how that could outlive the pandemic. A world in which I go to the cinema or sit in a cafe, cough, and them have people move away in fear, is rather nightmarish."
@gemlog The worst of the worst. Traded cannabis? Bang you're dead!
The Republican philosophy is an odd mix of libertarianism ("no laws!") and authoritarianism ("obedience to the President at al costs!"). They seem to believe authority resides in one person, not the shared agreement of the Constitution.
I'm not sure. His VPN is directed to Germany!
Looks like our priest is sometimes utubing mass these days (novus ordo):

@gemlog Thank you for coming back to me about this. I was on the right track but hadn't the details. I shall share this with a German friend of mine who lives on this island and has an interest in the subject. Thanks!

@gemlog Could you kindly provide more background to the blocking?
Today's #Covid19UK figures are released. My projection did remarkably well, predicting 2926 deaths (total) for today. The actual number is 2921.
To those people who STILL doubt that we are following the Italy curve, I say: look at the figures.
I see no way off this curve for at least a week. We will pass 10,000 deaths within the next week, and possibly as soon as 5 days' time.
I just wanted to publicly thank @khird for always being so quick with reporting SPAM when new accounts show up on our server. He is, by far, one of the biggest contributors to help me identify and get rid of spam before others need to see it.
Thanks for all your help!
