@freemo QOTO has been wonderful, and I found a home here after leaving a previous instance due to free speech restrictions, so I thank you and the QOTO team for giving people a voice :)

I just found a spider in my house and we had a nice long conversation. Went something like this: "

Me: Aww hey little guy, how ya doin?

spider:: ::wiggle wiggle::

me: Yea me too, one of those days. You a little lost, not too many bugs around here for ya.

spider: ::jostles his fangs::

me: yea I thought so, let me try to give you a hand. ::lifts up the container he is on to bring it outside::

spider ::jumps on me then immediately onto the carpet::

me: Woa, its ok, im sorry. I'm sure you know what your doin! Feel free to hang out in a corner somewhere, my home is your home! Let me know if you need anything ::walks away::

spider ::wiggles butt in approval and walks away::

The BDSM community should get in on the protests. If hordes of leather clad people charging into rubber bullets yelling HARDER DADDY doesn't unnerve the police nothing will

Today's #Covid19Cymru figures for deaths are good news insofar as the trend, which had begun to look like it was turning the wrong way, has now turned downwards again, although the 7-day average is still above what it was a week ago. Today: 7 deaths (total 1354).

This gives a daily mean (averaged over the past week) of 10.3 - i.e. down on the last 2 days, but still up on a week ago (8.3). Whether the upturn was real, or an artefact of poor reporting during the whole bank holiday weekend, 1/2

I'm resigning from my job at Facebook.

For years, President Trump has enjoyed an exception to Facebook’s Community Standards; over and over he posts abhorrent, targeted messages that would get any other Facebook user suspended from the platform. He’s permitted to break the rules, since his political speech is “newsworthy.”

“when the looting starts, the shooting starts.”

Mark always told us that he would draw the line at speech that calls for violence. He showed us on Friday that this was a lie. Facebook will keep moving the goalposts every time Trump escalates, finding excuse after excuse not to act on increasingly dangerous rhetoric. Since Friday, I’ve spent a lot of time trying to understand and process the decision not to remove the racist, violent post Trump made Thursday night, but Facebook, complicit in the propagation of weaponized hatred, is on the wrong side of history.

I cannot keep excusing Facebook’s behavior. Facebook is providing a platform that enables politicians to radicalize individuals and glorify violence, and we are watching the United States succumb to the same kind of social media-fueled division that has gotten people killed in the Philippines, Myanmar, and Sri Lanka. I’m scared for my country and I’m done trying to justify this.

My last day will be June 12th. If you have contacts in the San Francisco Bay Area looking to recruit a software engineer, please DM me.

I feel like we need a term that means something similar to "All Lives Matter" but without the anti-BLM connotation that phrase has. Somethign that means a more positive version of that (truly that all lives matter)... I'm thinking I'm going to start using for that in the future. Hopefully it will be more unifying a phrase.

Episcopal bishop @Mebudde on Trump clearing @DMVBlackLives from Lafayette square with tear gas to use @StJohnLafayette as a photo op: “I am outraged...everything he has said and done is to enflame violence...[the Bible] is about love of neighbor and sacrificial love and justice."

@freemo This is serious money (relatively speaking). Silly question, but have you shopped around re servers? Also, what about the occasional memberfunder to defray costs?

"Go takes away so much individuality of code. On most teams I’ve been on with Python and Java I can open up a file and immediate tell who wrote the library based on various style and other such. It’s a lot harder with Go and that’s a very good thing."

George Floyd death: Why has a US city gone up in flames?

A good video. 15 minutes of video well spent. tl;dw usa should be more like germany: confess to the evil in your past and grow up.
