There is no such thing as a “job creator.” There are employers, who hire employees, *because they need them*. And then employers pay the employees less than the value they generate. That’s the system. How did we get to the point at which people behave as if the wealthy are giving a gift to working people? I realize it’s not a new attitude, but it remains proudly f’d up.

"If a monkey hoarded more bananas than it could eat, while most of the other monkeys starved, scientists would study that monkey to figure out what the heck was wrong with it. When humans do it, we put them on the cover of Forbes."

The #climate crisis is costing the world billions. The argument that we 'can't afford' to mitigate emissions is increasingly absurd. We can't afford not to. #globalwarming #fossilfuels

The amount of #meat consumed is too high both for the planet and for our #health. We need to cut down drastically.

Some inconvenient facts about immigrants that MAGAs hope you ignore:

•Seeking asylum is a legal & human RIGHT, protected by the US Constitution and the UN Convention on Refugees (to which the USA is a signatory)

•Both documented AND undocumented immigrants have LOWER crime rates than US Citizens (and usually higher vaccination rates too)

•Undocumented immigrants pay MORE in taxes ($12B annually) than Trump ever has or will (and get none of the tax benefits)

Merry Christmas, #neurodivergent celebrants! So many autistic people *want* to be around people today but find it difficult, so have chosen to be on their own. Others are with family & friends right now, but are quickly overstimulated, and need to some quiet downtime to recuperate a bit. Either way, I'm on the #JoinIn hashtag, if you want a chat.

Just a #reminder, the #LastPass data #leak happened despite all the military grade and government verified as well as standardized encryption 🔐

#Encryption alone is not #security, but its implementation, and some do it better and others just badly. If the single point of #failure is vulnerable, the rest is usually useless 😉

Please do not fall for #buzzwords and the associated #advertising promises 🙏

PM RISHI SUNAK: Do you work in business
DEAN: No, I’m homeless. I’m a homeless person
PM RISHI SUNAK: Is banking or finance something you’d like to get into?
DEAN: I’d just like to get through Christmas

When you’re Prime Minister, you don’t volunteer in a soup kitchen or a food bank for a photo op, you legislate to ensure they aren’t necessary in the 6th richest country on the planet.

Elon Musk wants to control your brain. He’s seizing the digital public square in an effort to tilt the discourse toward ultra-conservative politics. What can we do about it? https://georgelakoff.substack.com/p/twitter-ceo-elon-musk-wants-to-control

I never joined Twitter or really posted on Facebook. I'm somewhat of a private person, not wanting to expose myself to too much online. But Mastodon reminds me of "old internet" by being a bit clunky and complicated to use, which I hope selects for the people that I tend like.

I used to work as a software engineer in Silicon Valley, but moved back to Europe and wanted to do something different. Currently I'm studying physics and math, hoping to complete a master's degree by 2024.

I'm here looking for insightful or helpful interactions around topics
of #physics, #math and #programming. I'm also looking for a place to toot my horn a little about personal projects and things I've learned, since many of my interests are too esoteric for my real-life friends.

Ok it’s just getting started here in southern Ontario #winterstorm rain this morning froze, now blowing snow and wind gusts getting up to about 90 km/h temp -11 c windchill -18 only few cm of accumulation but starting to drift #weather Glad I finished getting groceries
