"Why celebrate democracy in politics but not in economics? Why have one-person-one-vote elections in residential communities but exclude them for workplace communities inside enterprises?

Because otherwise capitalism could not survive." #democracyatwork

When I bought the LP of #Quadrophenia by #TheWho many decades ago, I always loved the second track entitled #TheRealMe but for years I couldn’t quite put my finger on why I liked it so much. Then it dawned on me that it basically an incredible #drum solo and #bass solo with some lyrics and a guitar playing in the background.

Bought a new drive to replace the disk I just lost... and guess what: DOA - dead on arrival.

My luck with new hardware knows no boundaries.

@fribbledom Years ago I found XP to run faster in QEMU than on the real hardware.
This time around, Win10 was a dog in a VM and could barely run on the real iron in the first place :-(

Hey, if you're in school and are having trouble paying for your textbooks, search them up on libgen.io to find them for free.

I'm realizing that a lot of people at my college don't know this and are skipping meals to afford overpriced textbooks, so it may help someone on here too. #sharingiscaring

The existence of billionaires is a symptom of failure

But capitalism isn't really about satisfying the basic needs of the population. It's also a kind of mistaken thinking which I had in the past, in which I thought that the basic economics would lead to the downfall of Microsoft and GNU/Linux as the default desktop everywhere. Because it's cheaper, better, can be customized for particular users, more utility/empowerment, etc.

Only that turned out to be completely wrong. Capital is only narrowly interested in its own perpetuation, and it doesn't even need the whole population for that. It doesn't care if people starve or if there is systemic discrimination or if your operating system doesn't work well and shows you crappy ads which you find annoying or offensive.
