@solderpunk @amiloradovsky
@maperal @vilbi I was born in england and only have english, but I try to read other languages lately and too late in my life to be any good at any of them. I am best at reading spanish, but I can't speak or write any of them yet.

Some languages I can't tell apart at all even. Romanian, Hungarian, Czek.. Also Polish and Silesian look the same to me pretty much.

I'm in awe of people fluent in several languages. I fear it is too late for me, but I still try every day.

"Britain prepares for #Brexit and “populist and nationalist” parties look poised to make sweeping gains in elections across the continent." https://www.counterpunch.org/2019/02/01/a-liberal-elite-still-luring-us-towards-the-abyss/

Brexit must be stopped at all costs.. The EU Referendum was flawed and fraudulent and completely invalid in terms of democratic accountability. Remainers need to get real and initiate a gradually ramped campaign of civil disobedience. The so-called Parliament at Westminster completely lacks authenticity and authority. It has become an international joke, an object lesson in political irrelevance.

Flemish newspaper De Standaard are using John Cleese (Basil Fawlty) goose stepping out of a circle of EU stars to represent Brexit.

Cool!

I'm currently living in Greece. Most Greeks, along with most other Europeans think that Britain has lost the plot completely. It's almost impossible to overestimate the reputational damage being done to the country by the self-serving ambitions and cowardice of the majority of its elected representatives.

At least Ziggy Stardust had five years to save the world. MPs have only fifty days (or thereabouts) to press the government to either revoke Article 50 or make proper provision for a second referendum.

People who think that there would be no scientists or "innovation" without capitalism seem to be living in some imaginary world where scientists get paid a lot. People become scientists *despite* capitalism. Capitalism tries to sabotage science at every turn.

Copy of recent email to Ian Lavery MP - the Labour Party's National Campaigns Co-ordinator.

Dear Ian (if I may?)

In the light of your recent comments, may I comment very briefly.

How long can you, along with Jeremy Corbyn and Sam McClusky, keep up the ridiculous pretence that the 2016 EU referendum was valid in any meaningful way? (Any dispassionate, outside observer would have spotted the serious flaws in its design immediately as well as its fraudulent execution which allowed serious campaign overspends and the substantial intervention of hostile, non-UK actors within social media.) How long can the three of you keep up the pretence that there is any merit whatsoever in leaving the UK?

If Labour doesn’t have a change of heart over the next few days and actively campaign for a second referendum (heart and soul), then people will have no other option than to bring about the necessary dissolution of parliament through civil disobedience on a massive scale.

oh, and i recommend ublock origin over all other ad blockers. it uses much less CPU/memory and it's just as effective, if not *more* effective. it's compatible with ABP filter lists and is has some incredibly advanced functionality (that you can disable if you just want a simple blocker).

make sure you install ublock *origin*, not ublock. ublock was acquired by the same company that makes adblock, and it doesn't have any of the features that were added since mid-2015. you can read more about the differences here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UBlock_O

We have this tendency to not see mental health as a disease. so for most of us we never realize these sorts of connections. But it is vital we change how we look at these things for everyone's sake.
