The impact of #climate conditions on #economic production. Evidence from a global panel of regions
An increase in global mean surface temperature by about 3.5°C until the end of the century would reduce global output by 7–14% in 2100, with even higher damages in tropical and poor regions.

A couple of months ago I had never even heard of 'Zoom'. Then I heard they were so popular their servers were melting.
Then I heard they were the devil and everyone should run away, because their security was a poor joke.
Then I heard .de was adopting it. Now I read "if only zoom would support OpenBSD that would be great".
Wut? Which is it?
A proprietary piece of NSA-happy garbage or a warm, wonderful piece of code that should be embraced by BSD users?
There was one death reported today in the #Covid19Cymru figures. That puts the 7-day average up to 0.71. But my main concern at the moment is the rise in cases: 34 new today, with the hot spot being Cardiff it seems. Anecdotal media reports are suggesting it's because people are dropping their guard; there's not a single point it can be traced to, but rather it's general. And so the big city suffers first.
Cardiff: 12
Merthyr: 4
Swansea, Carmarthen, Powys, Ceredigion (!!) :3
All others: <=1
I have heard from a fairly reliable source that the Ceredigion cluster is from a caravan park in or near Aberystwyth; i.e. it's tourists. Of course that means the local community should get back to full alertness again; I can vouch for the fact that Aberystwyth has not been a model of social distancing of late.

Why are we employing a foreigner in a matter of national interest?
@gemlog
I can't explain it in detail but two general principles explain it in broad brush.
Firstly, it is easier for the wealthy to increase their wealth than it is for the poor.
And the second is, the wealthy act to protect their wealth. No matter what steps the government may take to redistribute wealth the wealthy will be 2 steps ahead in protecting their assets.

There were no new deaths reported today, but there are 28 new cases in the #Covid19Cymru official figures. That's up on the last few days. Once again, the biggest problem area is Cardiff, with 10; Gwynedd has 4, Pembrokeshire 3, Flintshire, Wrecsam, Carmarthenshire 2, and 1 in Caerffili, Môn, Denbighshire, Merthyr and RCT.

Today's #Covid19Cymru figures show one new death, which means the 7-day average is up above 0.5 for the first time in a while. New cases are down to 19, so that's good news. They're very widely distributed though.
Total: 1593
7-day average: 0.57
New cases:
Swansea: 4
Cardiff: 3
Newport: 2
Wrecsam: 2
RCT: 2
Caerffili: 1
Conwy: 1
Denbighshire: 1
Vale of Glam: 1
Merthyr Tudful: 1
Powys: 1

The first time I heard about Linux was on a BBS system I dialed into, and they offered an early version of Slackware to download for free.
You could boot into it right from your DOS system, using a little tool called loadlin[1]: it would load the Linux kernel from your FAT filesystem into memory, replacing your running DOS instance entirely.
This was probably the first time I realized there were alternatives to the FAT filesystem. Minds were blown!
