I guess I'm one of very few to walk this footpath these days. The stile has almost completely retired away.

Look, we've all made fun of the exploits, but if log4j is oh-so-critical for your oh-so-important business, then you should have probably donated some money to its developers to ensure your critical infrastructure actually gets maintained.

It'll also give the log4j developers a chance to become self-sustainable and focus on things before shit hits the fan. Now's the time to act, not complain.

Just back from getting my #booster #vaccination for #Covid-19. I combined it with a longer-than-usual #bike ride of about 25 km figuring that any ill effects wouldn’t occur until some hours afterwards. I’ve formerly had two doses of the #Oxford-AstraZeneca #vaccine (main course) but this time they gave me a #Pfizer vaccine dose (dessert).

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Mastodon, is in fact, the Fediverse, or as I've recently taken to calling it, the ActivityPub-Fediverse. Mastodon is not a singular network unto itself, but rather a subnetwork of a greater "federated universe" - the Fediverse - realized by thousands of independent, live servers, each running an instance of one of an ensemble of platforms, all of which interoperate via the ActivityPub protocols.

Many Mastodon users surf a particular impression of the Fediverse every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the fraction of the network which is most widely used today is called "Mastodon", and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the Fediverse, equally inhabited by users from other non-Mastodon servers.

There really is a Mastodon, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the Fediverse they use. Mastodon is an ActivityPub server for microblogging. Mastodon is an essential part of the Fediverse, but limiting by itself. The Fediverse experience manifests in the context of a complete network. Mastodon distributes content in combination with other ActivityPub servers. The whole network is basically ActivityPub servers with Mastodon being the most common; The so-called "Mastodon network" is really the Fediverse network.

#Dyson tells many of #UK staff to work in #office even after plan B guidance change | Dyson Ltd | The Guardian

Dyson is such a right-wing libertarian dick who denies others the chance to evade infection.

I've been leaving my hotel room door open so the waiter can come into my room without me getting up to bring me food. I hear meowing and apparently i made a new friend, this friendly little fellow was next to my bed. Startled me half to death but i think we are besties now. After feeding him he is just staying in the room guarding the door to keep me safe.

I hope he will come give me some cuddles.

Fabulous misty mountain walk today. At just over 6 miles it's the longest walk I do with my walking group, but the views make it well worth it, especially on a day like today when it's so atmospheric. Didn't take my camera today so these are just phone pics :)
