"The US now has about 62 deaths per million people. Meanwhile, according to Johns Hopkins University data, Hong Kong, Japan, and Taiwan all have less than 1 death per million; and China, South Korea and Singapore have each under 5 deaths per million."
Both the USA and S. Korea reported their first case on the same day in January. One took action, the other... didn't.
Interesting that all the right-wing egos of trump, bolsonaro, bojo et al. result in disaster for the people in those countries.

The graphs for #Covid19UK deaths today show much the same pattern as the #Covid19Cymru graphs, and the same comments apply.
It's surely impossible for anyone to deny that the UK is tracking Italy's curve (at +14 days) now. There is still a question as to how we'll come down the other side, though. Lockdowns surely differ in their effectiveness between countries.

#covid19

Worldwide deaths ~100,000
UK deaths ~10,000
UK daily death rate now ~1,000 per day

So, the UK now accounts for 10% of worldwide deaths. The mismanagement of this situation by the UK government is staggering.

Today's #Covid19Cymru figures are in line with expectations. Despite sounding bad at 36 (the second highest daily total), they represent a slight lowering in the rate of increase when averaged over three days (13.9%, 14%, 14.1%, 12.8%), and the total now, at 351, is therefore slightly under the projected 360.
Are we peaking now? I hope so, and most of the information says we should be (see my other discussions on this topic). But the Wales data do not show this conclusively yet.

If it was that bad in 2012, just think of what it was like just before Covid-19 struck! However, this is not just an American problem, but a global issue. Will a change come and, if so, how?
