Some really good features on the next #mastodon release includes multilingual posts, that is, one post:

• has one or more translations
• displays in your order of language preference
• replies are ordered by your lang preference

This is great feature for Welsh, EU, or other multilingual working organisations, as well as those of us mixing in multiple linguistic communities.

Kind of thing that is simply absent from #birdsite's agenda.

We had #Austerity under #DavidCameron and #GeorgeOsborne, followed by some political chaos under #TheresaMay and the egregious #BorisJohnson and it’s about to get much much worse. I know that the #government is not immune to and, on the contrary, is rather prone to international conditions but I’m pretty sure the public have had enough. We must have a #GeneralElectionNow even if any incoming party will face the same problems. The #Tories have surely blown their cover as being fiscally competent.

I've found that the android mastodon app isn't that great and the whole experience is much better when logging in via a Web browser.

The UK's poppy fetish would be hilarious if it weren't so threatening. Giant poppies on the grills of buses, looking like bloodied noses... Frightened celebrities cowering behind their brooches and old paper numbers they've had for years... Football hooligans festooning themselves with poppies... Even the Cookie Monster had to wear one! #Fascism, of course, is absurdity with menaces, but there shouldn't be a need for any charity if the #UK government genuinely cared about ex-forces personnel.

@anniemo71 i love bookshops, especially secondhand bookshops. There’s a brilliant one in Llangollen, above a bistro, on the first floor. Go up the stairs, and it opens out into a huge space. But if I see a bookshop, I almost always go in. Also like libraries (one is 5 minutes walk from where I live). Don’t buy books from Amazon, but bought many from Apple books (including audiobooks). Sometimes go to a Welsh bookshop not far from me too.

Now that I have the opportunity, let me our quality-diversity algorithm to Mastadon. It's based on @janhjensen 's generative algorithm. We avoid stagnation issues, and illuminates opportunities across chemical space, and outperforms approaches!

I am not sure I ever wrote an #Introduction; if I did, it's probably too far back to find. So here we go:

@anniemo71 When people on Social Media suggest interesting books, I see if my city's library has it, or the next city. I'll put it on hold. If they don't have it, I might ask them to buy it.
Both books you mention are in my neighbouring city's collection. Hooray! Thanks for the recommendation.

But I will borrow books by local authors, even if I don't read them, to help create demand.

I have used Booktopia when I really need it.
Never Amazon.

@FediFollows @gretathunberg hi there Fedifollows. I know being verified on mastodon is not happening (yet)... but I wonder if someone put themself on here impressionating themselfs to be a well known or famous person.. how do people really know it's the real person?

We are pretty new to mastodon ourselfs so we just wonder how the verification works on making sure people are getting influenced by the real people and not fake accounts that impressionate someone else?

It's honestly disconcerting seeing accounts on here (celebrities) that have posts with 60+ replies and not a single reply of their own to anybody in that thread

This is exactly the kind of thing we want to avoid here. The asymettrical parasocial experience that is encouraged with such people

@anniemo71 I buy my books from our local independent bookshop, and charity shops. Occasionally I will buy from second hand bookshops but I find myself overwhelmed with the numbers of books, and often the lack of organisation.
Ebay is also good but some sellers over inflate the value.

I won't use Amazon unless a client leave me no option for project parts.
