We're looking for academics/PhD students who've recently migrated from Twitter to Mastodon, are currently doing so, considering it, or who don't intend to. We're interested in finding out about people’s opinions on migration & the differences between Twitter & Mastodon. If you wish to take part in our online focus group, please complete our initial survey https://lancasteruni.eu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_enXPA3rLdSdJsCG, which also includes further information about the research. Please boost! 🔁

I posted this my first day here then got self-conscious about self-promotion and deleted. Anyhow if anyone is working on a book that might fit this series I’m co-editing for Oxford, “Race in Nineteenth-Century Literature and Culture,” please consider submitting!

Self-introduction: I teach in the English department at Lehigh University. I started out doing primarily Postcolonial literature and Modernism, but over time I’ve added interests in Global Cinema (2018 book on Mira Nair) and have developed a number of digital collections on South Asian and African American topics. One I am particularly proud of is “African American Poetry: a Digital Anthology”

It's much cheaper and easier than you think to start your own server on here.

If you use "managed hosting", it means the hosting company does all the techy stuff like installation, upgrades and maintenance.

The cheapest Mastodon server through managed hosting costs around 8 US dollars a month.

I've done a website all about using managed hosting at:

...and here's a long article about making your own Mastodon server:

Intro toots seem to be a thing.

I'm Mark. You may know me from my work in software security (currently Matillion, formerly Mozilla) or hobbies (I keep chickens, make stuff and play music).

I'll mostly post about hobbies. Occasionally work.

I am an Australian writer, formerly on Twitter and now trying out Mastodon. I use these social media platforms to stay connected with the wider coimhearsnachd na Gàidhlig as well as the writing, neurodivergent and transgender communities. I mostly retweet (retoot?)

Fiù 's nach eil ach droch Ghàidhlig agam, bidh mi ga cleachdadh nuar as urrainn dhomh. Mar a thathar ag ràdh: "cleachd i no chaill i!"

Here goes: an #introduction! I’m an #editor at #SUNYPress, acquiring in #GenderStudies, #QueerStudies, #LatinAmericanStudies, #LiteraryStudies, #education, and more more more. My home field is #modernism and I wrote a book about modernist #womenwriters and thinking about the #gift in post-WWI literature and the social sciences. Trying to fight the good fight on behalf of #UniversityPress workers. Here to boost #labor issues and organizing in #HigherEducation.

New exhibition about people who found sanctuary in Wales after fleeing from central Europe due to the National Socialist dictatorship will be on display at Aberystwyth.

Amongst those attending the official opening will be 89-year-old Renate Collins, who fled Prague on the last Kindertransport train to leave Czechoslovakia before the Second World War broke out.

As I am #Czech, it means a lot to me. Diloch, Cymru. ❤️

Can't remember the last time I wasn't working on a Saturday, being able to watch a day of rugby is a bizarre luxury (and I'm not totally sure I remember how to switch off and enjoy it).

And the #Tories won't even consider a #WindfallTax 🤬
